Use of Glassine, Greaseproof and Parchment Paper Restricted

Nonessential uses of certain specialty papers used i n wrapping, specifically glassine, greaseproof, and vegetable parchment, have been prohibited through issuance of General Conservation Order M-286 by the War Production Board. It i s estimated that this conservation of material, formerly used largely for transparent decorative wrapping, will effect a

saving of from 10,000 to 15,000 tons per year.

Essential uses of t h i s type o f paper include packaging of food, ordnance, drugs, and health supplies, a s well a s for tracing papers in industrial plants a n d for electrical insulation. Ondy about 15 mills with a total capacity of approximately 140,000 tons a year manufacture these grades of paper.

More and more, designers of tomorrow's products are incorporating WESTON a//-metal thermometers in their specifications because of the many advantages these thermometers provide.

For cri t ical temperature requirements, its l°7o full scale accuracy, and its ability t o maintain that accuracy over longer periods, are most appealing. This long-term accuracy is made possible b y WESTON'S simplified, all-metal thermometer construction. There is no gas nor liquids employed, no capillary, rio involved mechanisms. Simply one moving part, and even that part is made of enduring metal. Thus it withstands vibration and over-ranging, and i s self-protected against mechanical

abuse. Moreover, i t has an attractive, dial-type scale which c a n be read from a distance, easily and accurately/

What appeals to designers of all types o f equipment a n d appliances, however, is the fact t h a t the physical form of this thermometer lends itself so readily to problems o f design. It c a n be designed into a prodxict, ratrier than made a n accessory thereto.

While sales of WESTON all-metal thermometers are at present limited t o essential requirements, descriptive bulletin giving complete specifications wil l gladly b e sent to design engineers o n request. Weston Electrical Instrument Corporation, 660 Frelinghuysen Avenue, Newark, New Jersey,
