Order Out ol Victor Grignard's systematic approach paid off. His ac­complishments in chemistry were enormous. He devoted more than forty years to chemical research. At least 170 publications came from his pen. Even while he lived, his name had been indelibly engraved on the tablets of the history of chemistry as that of the master of the organomagnesium compounds.

In Lyons, France on July 18, 1901, Grignard gave his doctoral thesis and as a result The Grignard Method was firmly established. Chemists around the world plunged into the study of the new compounds and their applica­tions to the most varied synthesis.

Now, the term "Grignard Reagent" is part of our chemical language.

In November 1912, the Nobel Prize for Chemistry was awarded Victor Grignard for the . . . "Grignard reagent which greatly advanced the progress of organic chemistry."
