Structurally, it is a linear copolymer consisting of alternating methyl vinyl ether and maleic anhydride units as shown graphically above. OUTSTANDING ^FEATURES The properties of PVM/MA sug- gest its use in adhesives, hinders, cera- mics, coatings, detergents, dispersions, emulsions, latex, leather, paper, textiles, and thickeners. Our New Product Bulletin No. P-103 describing this new polymer will be sent APPEARANCE; Fluffy, white, amorphous powder (bulk density is approximately 16 Ibs./cu.ft.) VISCOSITY RANGE: PVM/MA is now available in the viscosity range of 0.3 to 3 ("rçsp of 1 g./l00 ml. 2-butanone at 25°C). Higher viscosity samples will be made available in the future. SOLUBLE IN: Water and alcohols (dissolves with chemical reaction), acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, cyclohexanone, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, 7-butyrolactone, benzaldehydo, and pyridine. INSOLUBLE IN : Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and their halogen derivatives, ethyl ether and nitroparaffins. COMPATIBILITY: PVM/MA is compatible with a wide variety of water-soluble gums and resins and plasticizers. SOLUBILITY in water over the entire pH ronge.
