Equipment
Single-sweep polarogaph (Model SSP-1) features a storage tube readout, scan rates from 50 mv. per second to 20 volts per second, and normal, derivative, or integral wave form presentation. Chemtrix, Inc., Beaverton, Ore. Ε 30
Rotary weigh hopper is incorporated into company's line of batch weighing scales. Constructed without conventional gates, the rotary hopper is suspended from a plate scale and is pneumatically inverted to discharge contents. Cutler-Hammer, Pembroke, Mass. Ε 31
New line of gas lasers includes four models of varying power, size, and price. Trademarked "Stabilité," the helium-neon CW lasers have d.c. excitation and a built-in optical bench for convenient beam positioning. Spectra-Physics, Inc., Mountain View, Calif. Ε 3 2
Heat exchanger made of solid graphite provides great efficiency for the heating of acids in pickling operations. Exchanger is a straight-through flow cylinder. Corrosion resistant. Kearney Industries, Inc., Raritan, N J . Ε 3 3
Ultrasonic soldering iron provides fluxless soldering since sonic action removes oxide film from metal's surface. A 35-watt heating element melts solder which then carries the wave. Gulton Industries, Inc., Schiller Park, 111. Ε 3 4
Thermal conductivity instrument takes measurements on ceramics, metals, intermetallics, and insulating materials up to 2500° F. A cryogenic attachment lowers the instrument's temperature range to —300° F. Thermo-Physics Corp., Cambridge, Mass. Ε 3 5
Cytopherometer is a combination microscope and electrophoresis system allowing direct observation of electrophoretic movement of living cells. Camera attachment is provided. Carl Zeiss, Inc., New York, N.Y. Ε 3 6
Chemicals
Lubricant (Lubon) has low coefficient of friction and is developed to meet difficult lubrication requirements. Made with Du Pont's Teflon, lubricant is resistant to chemicals and used in applications where temperatures approach 600° F. Oil Center Research, Inc., Lafayette, La. C 60
Solubilizers (Triton H-55 and Triton H-66) are commercially available. The hydrotropes offer outstanding efficiency as solubilizers for conventional, low-foam nonionics and as surfactants in alkaline builder solutions. Rohm and Haas Co., Philadelphia, Pa. C 61
Resin solvent (De Solv 8090) dissolves most epoxy resins, polyesters, and other cured resins. Immersion times are short. Useful in recovering electronic components from resin coatings. Volatile but nonflammable, solvent has low toxicity. Ram Chemicals, Gardena, Calif. C 62
Three melamine-formaldehyde resins may be used in water-and solvent-based coatings. Trade-named "Resimenes," the cross-linking resins have excellent flexibility in formulations. Monsanto Co., St. Louis, Mo. C 6 3
Literature
Glass-fiber-reinforced thermoplastics engineering manual. Gives properties, performance data, applications, material comparisons and illustrations of glass-fiber-reinforced thermoplastics. Fiberfil, Inc., Evansville, Ind. L 1
Perchloroethylene ( Bulletin No. 190 ). Reports on the solvent's physical properties, chemical stability, metal cleaning and vapor degreasing, and other industrial uses. Hooker Chemical Corp., Niagara Falls, N.Y. L 2
Ultrasonic detection handbook. Surveys the industrial practices of using portable ultrasonic translator detectors to test welded structures, fluid power systems, pressure and vacuum systems, high-voltage breakdown, and others. Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, Calif. L 3
Field and laboratory test equipment (Catalog No. 66) . Describes and illustrates equipment for testing asphalt, cement, petroleum products, tars, greases, waxes, and food products. Humbolt Mfg. Co., Chicago, 111. L 4
Petroleum industry chemicals brochure. Gives properties and applications for 29 chemicals used in petroleum industry. Universal Oil Products Co., Des Plaines, 111. L 5
Thermoforming booklet (4th edition). Recommends proper mold construction, material selection, die cutting, printing, sealing, and fabricating of thermoplastic materials. Celanese Plastics Co., Linden, N.J. L 6
