Equipment
Sulfide ion electrode (Model 94-16). Device measures sulfide concentration to 10"20M from —5° to 100° C ; solid-state construction; no interference from fluorides, chlorides, sulfates, carbonates, phosphates, or hydroxides. Orion Research, Inc., Cambridge, Mass. Ε 60
Level gages ( Series 800 ). Systems measure level ( volume ) of liquid, solid, or liquefied gas under several storage conditions in any type of tarik; based on servo-operated, null-balance technique. Enraf-Nonius, Inc., Garden City Park, N.Y. Ε 61
Silicone-sponge tape (Strip-N-Stick). Pressure-sensitive tape combines inertness of silicone rubber and stretchability of sponge; retains resilience and flexibility from —100° to 500° F. in presence of most oils, solvents, and chemicals; use for gasket-ing, vibration damping, and other problems. Connecticut Hard Rubber Co., New Haven, Conn. Ε 62
Silyl compound. Bisdimethylsilylacetamide used to prepare dimethylsilylether derivatives of carbohydrates, phenols, sterols, fatty acids, alcohols, and other hydroxy compounds; volatile derivatives ideal for analysis by gas chromatography. Supelco, Inc., Bellefonte, Pa. C 31
Electroplating solutions. High-purity solutions of copper, nickel, tin, silver, gold, rhodium, palladium, platinum, rhenium, and ruthenium are purified, dummied, filtered, aged, and plate-tested; 1- and 3-gallon quantities. Technic, Inc., Providence, R.I. C 32
Paper additive (Tystar 22). Synthetic, dry-strength resin increases tear resistance, fold, tensile, and mullen of paper and board; improves printing uniformity; effective over wide pH range. Morningstar Products, New York, N.Y. C 33
Literature
Laser (K-G4). Instrument uses flowing gas mixture of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and helium; operates indefinitely with output up to 250 watts; emission at 10.6 microns; suited for cutting operations, welding, spectroscopy, surgery, vaporization studies. Korad Corp., Santa Monica, Calif. Ε 63
Flash tubes (Series XL). Long-life, high-energy xenon flash tubes are available with inputs from 600 to 15,000 joules; extra large electrodes and optional end-cap cooling fins for rapid heat dissipation; use in laser light pumping, flash photolysis, spectral treatment. Electro Powerpacs Corp., Cambridge, Mass. Ε 64
Heat gun. Device produces jet of concentrated, filtered, hot air or other gas; 1400- and 2000-watt elements; up to 800° F. at 10 pounds of air pressure and 1200° F. at 3 pounds of air pressure; use for deburring, curing, bonding, sealing. Laramy Products, Inc., Cohasset, Mass. Ε 65
Chemicals
Release agent (MR-1090). Aerosol mixture with lubricants is more effective than strongest silicone solution for removing plastics from molds; does not affect clairity and appearance of clear plastics; leaves microthin dry film with no mold buildup. Raja Chemicals and Plastics, Detroit, Mich. C 30
Aluminum rivets booklet. Discusses aluminum as fastening metal, guides to selection of rivet alloy, reviews design considerations and steps for testing strength of riveted joints; 52 specification tables; 80 pages. Aluminum Company of America, Pittsburgh, Pa. L 1
Chlorination for water treatment (Bulletin No. 904). Describes and illustrates chlorination treatment of various water supplies for drinking and for process use and of municipal and industrial wastes for sanitation and pollution control. Capital Controls Co., Inc., Colmar, Pa. L 2
Leaded steels bibliography. Lists references to published articles, patents, and trade literature dealing with leaded steels from 1938 to 1965. Lead Development Association, London, England L 3
Counter brochure. Provides basic counter design information and describes company's counter capability; applications, modular design, logic implementation, input/output, specifications. Data Technology, Inc., Watertown, Mass. L 4
Electronic measuring equipment (Catalog No. ES-15). Describes company's line of instruments used primarily for measurement, analysis, and recording of AM and FM signals; useful for work in acoustics, environmental testing, noise control. Bruel and Kjaer Precision Instruments, Cleveland, Ohio L 5
