Twenty-four hours a day, these giant steel pipes carry a rich cargo of chemical-laden gases from coke ovens to chemical plants of the Pit tsburgh Coke & Chemical Company. Final destination? Your new crease-proof summer suit, the drug that takes the sneeze out of your hay fever, the herbicide that kills your weeds but not your grass . . . and perhaps 100,000 other coal chemical-made products that are, or soon will be, an important part of your life.

But there's an important "l ine" going the other way from our coke ovens, too. It carries coke

to our blast furnaces for pig iron production. And slag from these furnaces is made into

cement for highways and homes. Diversified production? Yes, but completely integrated, too. For the operations

of Pittsburgh's ten divisions are welded into a single, basic production pat

tern. The manufacturing efficiencies and coai-to-product quality

control that result have made t h e P i t t s b u r g h C o k e &

Chemical Company trademark a hallmark of de

pendability.

P K U K E R T Î E S

An organic algin derivative of high molecular weight, Kelcoloid is easily and completely soluble under neutral or acidic conditions in either hot or cold water to give a clear solution. Kelcoloiu is useful for its emulsifying, thickening, suspending, water-holding, and whipping properties. Kelcoloid solutions are neither coagulated by heat nor gelled by cooling.

This refined hydrophilic powder available in high and low viscosity grades may solve your need for an emulsion stabilizer, thickener, or suspending agent.

Many firms are developing valuable new uses for Kelcoloid to increase production and cut costs. For descriptive bulletin and additional information, fill in and mail coupon below.

Hook o n Revolving C r a n e Truck Can S e Ra ised 68 In.

Designed oxiginally fo r use in the rubber industry, a Revolving Crane Truck manufactured by t h e Market Forge Co. is finding varied uses in other industries. The unit was developed to remove or replace molds From tire molding machines. It has also b>een found to be useful in handling molds a n d other equipment in storage and for miscellaneous work in maintenance.

The truck has a capacity of 2000 lb. and an over-a.ll height of 68 in. Its hook, which i s 60 ix». high when raised and 10 in. when lowered, projects 24 in. over either side o f t h e truck. The hook is raised a n d lowered by power. A double-acting ram i s used s o that the hook, whether loaded or empty, will lower at a safe speed antd will not depend on gravity. With a load, the truck has a speed of about 2.5 t o 3 m.p.h. H 7

Hydrau l ic L o a d e r Exer ts 15,000-Lb. :Forward Thrust

The Lessirt-ann Manufacturing Co. has made improvements on all three models of its Hydraulic Power-Crowd Loader. The hydraulic power-crowding feature now exerts a forward thrust of 15,000 lb. while the unit is s tanding still. The loader -will d i g 12 in. below wheel level.

Buckets of several capacities are interchangeable om the unit by means of four steel pins. Crane hook, lift forks, and a dozer blade ;are also available, according to the manufacturer, H 8

Fork L i f t Ta-uck Has Push-Pull G e a r Cont ro l

A 4O00-lb_, fork l if t truck is being manufactured by Mofoilift Corp. Called the D-424, tr*e truck has no gears to shift, as all forward a n d reverse movement is activated by one push-pull Lev-R-Matic control conveniently placed for right hand operation, a n o t h e r push-pull lever controls t h e tw-o-speed transmission which gives a high xange speed of 11 m.p.h. and 5.75 m.p.h. i:an low range forward and reverse. Eleva tor & tickets

The Fort W o r t h Steel & Machinery Co. is resuming manu-f arliire nf its Hi-Cap line of elevator "buckets, Their manufacture was discontinued in 1953 because of material shortages, which have been alleviated. Hi-Cap elevator buckets are suitable for handling any powdered or granular free flowing material -which is not excessively abrasive. Tine buckets are made from heavy gage, cold-rolled steel. H 10
