The Loop Diagnostic Tool (LDT) is used to check the live status of Vigilon panel’s loop circuits to confi rm each loop’s health status and diagnose failures. The tool provides measured data of each loop circuit, which is displayed along with status symbol for each measurement, plus it makes suggestions as to the possible action that can be taken to rectify problems.

Where to get the Loop Diagnostic Tool softwareThe latest LDT software can be downloaded from the gentexpert.co.uk website by registered users.

Initial checksCheck to ensure the Laptop that is being used can operate the Loop Diagnostic Tool application. Then check the Vigilon panel has the appropriate cards and fi rmware that are compatible with the Loop Diagnostic Tool, see section headed ‘Compatible Vigilon System, Card Firmware and Loop devices’. It is also important to check the loop circuits have compatible devices.

Laptop system used to run the Loop Diagnostic ToolThe Loop Diagnostic Tool can run on a laptop having Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) or Windows 8 (64-bit) or Windows XP (32-bit).

Loop Diagnostic Tool Software installationTo install LDT software you must run the Loop Diagnostic Tool.exe fi le and follow the on screen instructions. When the software is fully loaded you will see the following icon on your desktop:

While loading the LDT tool software other software may also be installed, such as Crystal reports for .NETFRAMEWORK 4.Note USB driver is supplied with the tool and is located:C:\Program Files\Honeywell\Loop Diagnostic Tool\Drivers

How to upgrade the Loop Diagnostic ToolThe Loop Diagnostic Tool software can be upgraded or downgraded at anytime, however you must fi rst remove the existing program from your laptop.

Use the windows program installer and uninstaller to add and remove the Loop Diagnostic Tool software.

How to licence Loop Diagnostic ToolIf the Loop Diagnostic tool is being installed for the fi rst time then you will see the licence dialog box.

Site KeyYou will need a Site Key to activate the tool licence. To obtain a site key fi rst fi ll in the user fi elds in the form and communicate this information by phone or email to the Technical support team at Gent by Honeywell. You will receive a Site Key to activate the Tool, with is a number that is entered in the top fi eld of the licence dialog box.

Tip: Always ensure the loop Diagnostic Tool has a valid licence before visiting a site.

Existing LicenceIf you have a few remaining days left for an existing licence to expire and want to renew the licence, then click

on the icon from within the Loop Diagnostic Tool

screen and select .

Compatible Vigilon System, Card Firmware and Loop devicesBefore using the Loop Diagnostic tool check to ensure the fi re alarm system can be diagnosed by the tool. The Loop Diagnostic Tool is compatible with fi re alarm systems based on:

Vigilon 4/6 Loop panels (VIG1-24 or VIG1-72) Vigilon Compact panel (COMPACT-24)

The respective panel MUST have cards with the following version numbers: MCC/MCB at V4.52 or higher LPC cards at V4.48 or higher

DevicesOnly connect the Loop Diagnostic Tool to a compatible EN Vigilon panel based system having S4 devices installed on its loop circuits to achieve up to 2Km loop cable length.

If 34000 devices are installed on loop circuits or a mix of 34000 and S4 devices then the loop is restricted to 1km loop cable length.

The Loop Diagnostic Tool is not designed to diagnose: BS Vigilon systems nor EN Vigilon systems having 3400 devices connected to the loop circuits

Permanent damage to Vigilon system equipment is likely to occur where unauthorised equipment is connected to loop circuits.

When conducting Earth fault tests using the Loop Diagnostic ToolWhen conducting Earth fault test from the Loop Diagnostic Tool ensure the power supply to the Laptop is either from:

a double insulated power adaptor or from laptop’s battery supply ONLY

Powering the laptop in this manner prevents ground loop interference during Earth fault test.
