THE NEW FRONTIER IN THE ORTHOPAEDIC POST-OP AUTOTRANSFUSIONTHE DRY WASH IS AN INNOVATIVE SYSTEM, ASSOCIATED WITH ORTHO P.A.S. DRY WASH, CAPABLE TO REMOVE AUTOMATICALLY THE ENTIRE SUPERNATANT LAYER, ELIMINATING THE MAjOR CONCENTRATION OF HARMFUL SUBSTANCES, THUS REDUCING THE LIkELIHOOD OF TRANSFUSION REACTION.

DESCRIPTIONWhile transferring the blood collected from the reservoir to the reinfusion bag , most of the “no wash devices” allowtotransfereverything(Bloodshed,FPH,Fat,etc);othersdevicesareequippedwithsupernatantseparatorguaranteeingthatafixedvolume(i.e.50ml)remainsinthe reservoir, keeping:•theentirelipidslayer(inthereservoir);•partiallytheSupernatantlayer(inthereservoir).

The fixed volume might not guarantee a completeremoval of the entire Supernatant layer, due to Patients’ variable exudated volume.Thanks to the electronic sensor, placed between reservoir and reinfusion bag, the entire VARIABLE SUPERNATANT and lipids layer are not transferred to the reinfusion bag.Thebloodisreinfusedthroughthe40μmGOCCIAfilterinordertopreventanyrisktothepatient(forexample,pulmonary microembolism caused by circulating microaggregates).

VACUUM GENERATORSThevacuumsourceissettableandcontinuousandsafeguardsagainstexcessivebleedingandpossibleformationofhaematomas.The vacuum oscillation, i.e. the alternation of high and low vacuum, facilitates haemostasis of the wound without the risk of haematoma formation.Thecollectedbloodspontaneouslydefibrinatesuponcontactwiththetissuesbeforeflowingfromthedrainages,therefore,no anticoagulant solution needs to be used.
