It had to be shipped in one piece to the plant site in Alaska. Fortunately, the Cosmos Maru, a specially constructed LST type vessel, could accommodate both the converter and the special crawler track on which it was shipped. The trailer with its 600 ton cargo was able to crawl ashore at high tide and proceed directly to the plant site more than a mile away. Chemico had the converter erected and in position ahead of schedule. In fact, thanks to the planning and resourcefulness of Chemico's engineering and construction crews, the entire project is proceeding on schedule. With more than 50 years of experience behind it, Chemico has learned to minimize the many new and different problems which arise in engineering and construction. And when a really unusual problem develops, Chemico is ready to rise to the challenge. ©HEMICO CHEMICAL CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION (An Electric Bond and Share Company) 320 Park Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10022 Cable address: CHEMICONST · (212) 751-3900
