PA. and Tfteetùuw, 1950 Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry The Pittsburgh Conference on Analyti- cal Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy will be held at the William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh, Pa., on Feb. Ï5, 16, and 17, 1950, under the joint sponsorship of the analytical division of the Pittsburgh Section of the ACS and the Spectro- graph^ Society of Pittsburgh. An ex- position of modern analytical equipment will be a feature of the conference. AIChE Montreal Regional Meeting The American Institute of Chemical Engineers will hold a regional conference in Montreal, Sept. 6 to 9. This will be the first meeting of the organization in Canada since 1937, and the utilization of Canadian natural resources will be the subject of a series of papers pre- sented by outstanding authorities. Plant visits have been arranged with Shawini- gan Chemicals, Ltd., the Belgo-Canadian Pulp and Paper Co., and the Aluminum Co. of Canada. Engineering Education Society Elects The election of Thorndike Saville, dean of engineering at New York Uni- versity, as president of the American Society for Engineering Education for the year 1949-50 was announced at the annual convention of the society at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, Ν. Υ., on June 23. Vice presidents in- clude B. J. Robertson, University of Minnesota; H. H. Armsby, U. S. Office of Education; F. E. Terman, Stanford University; and F. M. Dawson, State University of Iowa. J. S. Thompson was re-elected treasurer of the society. Soap Group Expands Membership in the Association of American Soap & Glycerine Producers, Inc., has been broadened to include manufacturers of synthetic glycerol and of synthetic detergents. This step should do much to ad\ r ance its work in cleanli- ness education, the association states. NGAA Southern Regional Meeting The southern regional meeting of the Natural Gasoline Association of America will be held in Tyler, Tex., Oct. 14, in cooperation with the East Texas Natural Gasoline Men's Club. Headquarters for the meeting will be the Blackstone Hotel. Metals Society Officers New officers of the American Society for Metals who will take office during the annual meeting of the group in Cleveland, Ohio, Oct. 17 to 21, are Arthur E. Focke, president, and Walter E. Jominy, vice president. Dr. Focke is with the Diamond Chain Co. and Dr. Jominy, with Chrysler Corp.
