SCIENCE FEST SCIENCE FEST SCIENCE FEST
The Inauguration of the Mathematics Association Sigma was held
on July 10,2015. A Guest Lecture was conducted on “Language
theory” by Dr. Rajkumar Dare, Retired professor and Head, Madras Christian College, Chennai. He introduced the concept
of “Language theory and Grammars”. He also discussed some
real life application on Languages and grammar. The members of
the Association were elected and Annual News- Letter INSπRE
was released by Dr. Rajkumar Dare the first and second copies
were given to Principal and Vice– Principal.
The Departments of Basic Sciences of Chevalier
T.Thomas Elizabeth College for Women conducted “Science Fest 2015”, an Interschool Competition, on August 3,2015. Dr. R. Parvathi, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Mathematics, Vellalar College for Women, Erode addressed the students on the topic “ Career Guidance in Sciences”. Events like Connextion, Just a Minute,
Science Haiku and Drawing were conducted and students from
various school enthusiastically participated.

INTERNATIONAL SEMINARINTERNATIONAL SEMINARINTERNATIONAL SEMINAR
The International Seminar on “Advanced Technology Projects for Social Good” was
conducted by the Department of Sciences on July 13, 2015. The students from Mathematics,
Physics, Computer Sciences and Computer Applications were participated. The International
Seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Meenakshi, Vice Principal and Science Coordinator, CTTE
College for women, Chennai-11. The Chief Guest was Dr. Murali Venkatesh M.S, Ph.D,
Faculty Member, School of Information Studies, Syracuse University, New York.
The Department of Mathematics along with IQAC organized a crash course on
“Capacity Building” for Research Scholars and Faculty members of city colleges on
“Logicist Philosophy of Mathematics” on 29 August 2015.
The crash course started by introducing and welcoming the resource person
S.Veeramani, Research Scholar, Department of Mathematics, IIT Hyderabad.
Dr.S.Sridevi, IQAC Coordinator, felicitated the guest.
The first session started with the discussion in Linear and Modern
Algebra followed by Real and Complex Analysis were discussed in the
further sessions.
In the interactive session, the participants enthusiastically discussed and asked questions about the concepts and logics from various topics. Nearly 20 participants from various colleges were benefited by this crash course
Dr. R. Meenakshi, Vice Principal addressed the valedictory function
and issued the certificates to all the participants and finally the
session came to an end.
