BackgroundBackgroundThe 6 Sigma Accelerator (6σA) for Microsoft® Office Project Portfolio Server 2007 (PPS) was developed by Project Solutions Group under the guidance of a Master Black Belt with over 20 years experience at General Electric (GE).GE is considered one of the forerunners in Six Sigma methodology.Many features in the 6σA replicate features in the GE Six Sigma information system, developed over 10 years.

PurposePurposeThe purpose of the 6σA is to enforce Six Sigma methodology by instituting the disciplines of proper estimation, business case development, selection and management of projects.The 6σA simplifies the tracking process for both Project Managers and Black Belts with easy to learn and use, web-based, input screens and reports.Ultimately the 6σA is used to hold projects accountable to the schedule and benefits promised.
