SPECIFIC USE DIRECTIONSAntsApply to any trails around doors and windows andother places where ants may be found. For bestresults, locate and treat nests. Where ants are trailinginside, apply as a residual surface treatment to activeareas such as baseboards, corners, around pipes, inand behind cabinets, behind and under refrigerators, sinks, furnaces and stoves, cracks and crevices. Whencombining baits and residual surface insecticides, apply surface insecticides in cracks and crevices, alongbaseboards, and infested surfaces and outside barrier

treatments. Treatment of perimeter landscaping canreduce honeydew-producing insects and limit thisant food source. Use baits in other areas that areuntreated by residual insecticides; also see OutdoorSurfaces Use.

Cockroaches, Crickets, Earwigs, Firebrats,Silverfish, and SpidersApply as a coarse, low pressure spray to areas wherethese pests hide, such as baseboards, corners, storageareas, closets, around water pipes, doors and win-dows, attics and eaves, cabinets, behind and underrefrigerators, furniture, sinks, furnaces and stoves, theunderside of shelves, drawers and similar areas. Payparticular attention to cracks and crevices; also seeOutdoor Surfaces Use.

BedbugsRecommend cleaning of floors and surfaces byvacuuming. Apply as a coarse, low-pressure spray toharborage areas including crevices, baseboards, looseplaster, behind bed frames and headboards, beneathbeds and furniture, and to bedsprings and bedframes. Do not apply to furniture surfaces or mat-tresses where people will be laying or sitting. Infestedbedding should not be treated, but should beremoved, placed in sealed plastic bags, and taken forlaundering and drying at high temperatures.

Bees, Flies, Mosquitoes, and WaspsApply directly to walls, ceilings, window screens, andother resting areas as a residual surface treatment.May be used inside residential buildings as well as inand around carports, garages, and storage sheds; alsosee Outdoor Surfaces Use. Use caution when treatingnests of stinging insects as Demand CS Insecticide doesnot provide instant knockdown. Protective equip-ment for the applicator may be required. For bestresults, treat bee, wasp and hornet nests late in theday when most insects will be present. Allow 2-3 daysfor colony to die and retreat if necessary.

For mosquito control, apply as a general structuralperimeter spray to landscape plantings, turf, andbuilding foundations to control mosquitoes. Yards or

other frequented areas enclosed by landscaping canbenefit from the creation of a mosquito barrier toreduce invading mosquitoes by the treatment ofperimeter vegetation. For best results, apply DemandCS Insecticide at recommended rates in 2–5 gals. ofwater per 1,000 sq. ft. Higher volumes applied resultin better coverage and, as a rule, will improve control.Application to vegetation away from structures mayrequire additional certification, e.g. in turf or orna-mental categories. Consult your state regulatoryagency for requirements.

Carpenter BeesApply coarse spray to thoroughly wet wood surfaceswhere bees have been previously active or to provideprotection against further damage. Apply early in thespring to prevent bees from invading wood. Whenbees have infested wood, surface applications canhelp control embedded larvae and bees that emergefrom the wood. Applications can be made on amonthly basis to maintain protection of treated areas.

Pantry Pests (i.e., Carpet beetle, Cigarettebeetle, Confused flour beetle, Lesser grainborer, Red flour beetle, Rice weevil, andSaw-toothed grain beetle)Apply to cupboards, shelving, and storage areas.Remove all utensils, uncovered foodstuffs (or anyhaving original package opened), and shelf paperbefore making application. Allow treated surfacesto dry and cover shelves with clean paper beforereplacing any utensils, foodstuff, or other items. Anyfoodstuff accidentally contaminated with treatmentsolution should be destroyed.

Boxelder Bugs, Centipedes, Millipedes,Pillbugs, and SowbugsApply around doors and windows and other placeswhere these pests may be found or where they mayenter premises. Treat baseboards, storage areas, andother locations. Apply barrier treatments to preventinfestation as described below; also see OutdoorSurfaces Use.

Fleas and TicksTo control nuisance fleas and ticks (e.g. dog ticks)apply to kennels, yards, runs, and other areas wherepets may frequent. For best coverage to control ticks, apply using a coarse fan spray to vegetation brush, branches, rock walls, and other areas near habitationwhere ticks may harbor or frequent. Treat entire arearather than making spot treatments, and retreat asnecessary to maintain control. Do not apply to pastureor cropland, and do not allow animals and peopleaccess to treated areas until the deposit has dried.Applications can be made on a monthly basis, begin-ning in the spring and can continue until frost tocontrol both larvae and adult ticks. Also, treat petswith a product registered for flea and tick control. SeeOutdoor Surfaces Use.

Cluster FliesApply in late summer or early fall before flies areobserved alighting on surfaces. Apply thoroughly onsiding, under eaves, and around windows and doors, paying particular attention to south-facing surfaces.Apply just enough dilution to adequately cover thearea without excessive dripping or runoff. Volume canvary depending on the surface type treated. Heavyprecipitation prior to frost may require retreatmentsto maintain protection. In winter and spring whenflies become active and are emerging, interior crackand crevice and void treatments can help reduce theinfestation, along with ULV or general surface appli-cation in infested attics or unoccupied lofts.

Litter Beetles (Darkling, Hide, and CarrionBeetles) and Flies In Animal Housing(Such As Poultry Houses)To control adult litter beetles, apply Demand CSInsecticide to walls and floors at cleanout, before rein-troduction of animals. This will suppress beetles thatescaped earlier treatment and will help delay onset offuture infestations. Pay attention to areas wherebeetles frequently occur, such as walls, supports, cages, stalls, and around feeders. To help control flies,

apply a directed application to horizontal surfacesand overhead areas and allow to dry before reintro-duction of animals; also see Livestock/Poultry Hous-ing Structures and Pet Kennels.

Application Within Food Handling Establishments(places other than private residences in whichexposed food is held, processed, prepared, or served)including, but not limited to, areas for receiving, stor-age, packing (canning, bottling, wrapping, boxing),preparing foods, edible waste storage and enclosedprocessing systems (mills, dairies, edible oils, syrups),and serving areas.

Use as a crack and crevice or spot treatment in andaround both food and nonfood areas. Apply in smallamounts directly into cracks and crevices, using equip-ment capable of delivering a pin stream of insecticide,in points between different elements of construction, between equipment and floor, openings leading tovoids and hollow spaces in walls, equipment andbases. Food contact surfaces and equipment shouldbe cleaned with an effective cleaning compound andrinsed with potable water before using.

Limit individual spot treatments to an area no largerthan 20% of the treated surface. Individual spot treat-ments should not exceed 2 sq. ft. Take extreme carethat the product is not introduced into the air. Avoidcontamination of food and food processing surfaces.

Application Within Food Serving Areas(facilities where foods are served, such asdining rooms)Apply as a crack and crevice or spot treatment toselective surfaces such as baseboards, under elementsof construction, and into cracks and crevices. Avoidtreating surfaces likely to be contacted by food. (Donot apply when facility is in operation or foods areexposed.) Food must be covered or removed in areabeing treated. Do not apply directly to food or allowapplications to contaminate food.

Application of this product in the Food Areas and/orFood Serving Areas of Food Handling Establishmentsother than as a spot and/or crack and crevice treat-ment is not permitted. Use of application equipmentsuch as the Micro-Injector or Actisol applicator in foodareas should be limited to crack and crevice treatmentonly.

Livestock/Poultry Housing Structures andPet KennelsApply as a general surface (including directed sprays)and/or crack and crevice treatment. Control isenhanced when interior and exterior perimeter appli-cations are made in and around the livestock, poultry, and pet housing structures. Normal cleaning practicesof the structure also must be followed along withapplications of Demand CS Insecticide to effectivelycontrol the crawling and flying insect pests listed inthe table.

For unoccupied areas of livestock barns or housingstructures, apply to floors, vertical, and overhead sur-faces where crawling or flying insect pests are or maybe present. Feeders, waterers, and feed carts shouldbe covered before application to prevent contamina-tion. Do not apply to milk rooms or feed rooms. Payattention to animal areas including stanchions, pipes, windows and doors, and areas where insect pests hideor congregate. Exterior applications to south facingwalls and foundation perimeters can help preventinterior infestations of flying and crawling insectpests.

For poultry houses, apply to floor area (birds grownon litter) or to walls, posts, and cage framing (birdsgrown in cages). Application should also be made intocracks and crevices around insulation. Reapply aftereach growout or sanitization procedure. Indoor con-trol can be enhanced by making perimeter treatmentsaround the outside of building foundations to pre-vent immigrating adult beetles. Apply in a uniformband 1–3 ft. up and 2–6 ft. out from foundation.Maintaining a year-round treatment program willprevent background populations from reachingproblem levels.

DO NOT make applications to any animal feedstuffs, water, or watering equipment.

DO NOT contaminate any animal food, feed, or waterin and around livestock, poultry, or pet housing whenmaking applications.

Outdoor Surfaces UseFor control of ants, bees, centipedes, cockroaches, crickets, fleas, flies, millipedes, mosquitoes, scorpions, sowbugs, pillbugs, spiders, termites (above groundonly), ticks, wasps, and other similar perimeter arthro-pod pests. Apply with either hand or power applica-tion equipment as a residual treatment to ornamentalplants next to foundations of buildings and to sur-faces of buildings, porches, screens, window frames, eaves, patios, garages, refuse dumps, and other simi-lar areas where these insect pests are active. Fortermites, this type of application is not intended as asubstitute for soil treatment labeled termiticides ormechanical alteration to control subterranean ter-mites, or fumigation for extensive infestation of dry-wood termites or other wood-infesting insects. Thepurpose of such applications of Demand CS Insecticidefor termites is to kill workers or winged reproductiveforms which may be present in treated channels atthe time of treatment. Such applications are not asubstitute for mechanical alteration, soil treatment orfoundation treatment, but are merely a supplement. This product is not recommended as sole protectionagainst termites. For active termite infestations, get aprofessional inspection.

Structural Perimeter Barrier TreatmentsApplying a continual band of insecticide around abuilding foundation and around windows, doors, ser-vice line entrances, eaves, vents, and other areas cangreatly reduce the potential for entry by crawlingpests. To facilitate application, remove debris and leaf

Example calculation: to prepare a mid-rate dilution ofDemand CS Insecticide, mix 3 fl. oz. (88 mL) of con-centrate in 100 gals.Application to ornamentals should be started prior tothe establishment of high insect pest populations.Make reapplications as necessary to keep pest popu-lations under control, using higher rates as pest pres-sure increases.Apply at 7-day intervals if retreatment is necessary.More frequent treatments should be limited to spottreatments. Recognize that as plants grow, newfoliage will be unprotected until treated.Do not apply more than 0.36 lbs. of the a.i. (52.4 fl. oz.of concentrate)/A per year.Good spray coverage is necessary to provide the mosteffective level of control. Addition of a spreader-sticker at recommended rates may enhance the con-trol of insects on certain species of ornamentalshaving waxy, hard to wet foliage. For spot treatments use 0.5 fl. oz. Demand CSInsecticide per 1–21/2 gals. of water.Consult your state university or local CooperativeExtension Service office for specific pest control appli-cation timing in your area.NOTE: While phytotoxicity testing has been carriedout on a wide range of ornamental plants under vari-ous environmental conditions, and no phytotoxicityhas been observed, certain cultivars may be sensitiveto the final spray solution. It is advised to prespray a selection of ornamentalplants and observe them for 7–10 days prior to treat-ing large areas if local use experience is unavailable. This is especially advisable if Demand CS Insecticide isbeing mixed with another product or ingredientbesides water. [See Tank Mixing (Turf and OrnamentalDilutions) instructions].Scale: Thoroughly cover the plant with Demand CSInsecticide spray, including trunks, stems, twigs, andfoliage for control of scale insects (crawler stage).

Bagworm: Apply Demand CS Insecticide when bag-worm larvae begin to hatch. Spray directly on thelarvae. Application is the most effective when thelarvae are young.

Do not apply when turfgrass is waterlogged or whensoils are saturated with water (i.e. will not acceptirrigation).

KEEP CHILDREN AND PETS OFF TREATED AREAS UNTILSPRAY HAS DRIED FOLLOWING THE APPLICATION.

Surface Insect Control (armyworm, cutworms, fleas, etc.)For best results, apply Demand CS Insecticide at rec-ommended rates in 2–5 gals. of water per 1,000 sq. ft.The use of a spreader-sticker may be useful if highrainfall amounts are forecast, otherwise the additionof adjuvants is not necessary under normal conditionsfor surface insect control in turf. Delay watering ormowing for 12–24 hours for optimum control ofsurface-feeding insect pests.

Thatch Inhabiting Insect Control (chinch bugs, billbugs, etc.)For best results, apply Demand CS Insecticide at rec-ommended rates in 2–10 gals. of water per 1,000 sq.ft. The use of a nonionic wetting agent, penetrant orsimilar adjuvant is recommended at label rates.Lightly irrigate after application with up to 1/2 inch ofwater to move the Demand CS Insecticide into thethatch layer. If irrigation is not available, then usehigh water application rates for optimum results.

Subsurface Insect Control (mole crickets, grubs, etc.)For best results, apply Demand CS Insecticide at rec-ommended rates in 4–10 gals. of water per 1,000 sq.ft. The use of a nonionic wetting agent, penetrant orsimilar adjuvant is strongly recommended followinglabel rates. Use the highest water application ratespossible with your sprayer. Apply Demand CSInsecticide to turf wet with dew, rain or irrigation.Water-in immediately after application with 1/4–1/2inch of water for optimum results.

Fire Ant ControlTreat individual mounds with a drench applicationusing a watering can. Use 0.5 fl. oz. of Demand CSInsecticide per 2.5 gals. of water. Thoroughly soakeach mound and a 3 ft. diameter circle around eachmound. Gently apply the mixture to avoid disturbingthe mound. Disturbing the mound may cause the antsto migrate and reduce the effectiveness of the treat-ment. For best results, apply in early morning or lateevening hours. Applications can be made on amonthly basis to maintain protection of treated areas.

Mosquito ControlApply as a general spray around landscape plantings, turf, and building foundations to control mosquitoes.Yards or other frequented areas enclosed by land-scaping can benefit from the creation of a mosquitobarrier to reduce invading mosquitoes by the treat-ment of perimeter vegetation. For best results, applyDemand CS Insecticide at recommended rates in 2–5gals. of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Higher volumes appliedresult in better coverage and, as a rule, will improvecontrol.
