- The voting mechanism is a delegate cascade that is open to continuous recasting.

Textbender is a system of collaborative writing based on recombinant text. It implements a social Web medium with potential applications ranging from open art to open democracy. The underlying mechanism is evolutionary genetics:- The text exists as a population of variants, one per author.- Authors swap fragments and arrangements of the text, peer to peer.- Genes encode a traceable record of authorship throughout.

Τhe system remembers the authorship of each contribution, no matter how small, wherever it happens to survive in an individual document. A document is a patchwork of discrete genes, each of which encodes a piece of text. In addition, each gene records its own origins and ancestry. The combined ancestries of all genes of a document are, therefore, a record of that document's authorship. When a piece of text is transferred to another document, a portion of authorship is transferred too. When that document is later subject to a genealogical trace, it will reveal the contributions made to it by all surviving pieces of text, and the historical authorship of each.

The architecture takes seriously the ideal of heroic outside guidance. It aims to situate the hero guide beyond the formalized guideway and within the context of the lifeworld as is. An ordinary person speaks from that everyday context and the course of society is changed.

On the system side, the aim is to guide the whole of the state administrative system as is. The architecture provides for this purpose a comprehensive catalogue of guidance practices that requires no initiative or structural change on the part the state, because the institution of the guideways is independently anchored in the lifeworld. 16
