UNESCO Οδηγός Σπουδών των Εκπαιδευτικών για την Παιδεία στα Μέσα και την Πληροφορία Είναι γεγονός ότι ζούμε σε ένα κόσμο όπου η ποιότητα της πληροφόρησης (επανα)προσδιορίζεται σε μεγάλο βαθμό από τα νέα μέσα επικοινωνίας τα οποία προσφέρονται πλέον σε ενιαίες πλατφόρμες μέσα από την ψηφιακή σύγκλιση. Οι επιλογές και επακόλουθες πράξεις μας, η ικανότητα του αυτοπροσδιορισμού, της προσωπικής ανάπτυξης αλλά και η πολιτειακή μας ταυτότητα καθορίζονται από την κατακλυσμιαία παρουσία των μέσων ενημέρωσης. Ως εκ τούτου, αποτελεί ύψιστη πρόκληση η καλλιέργεια δεξιοτήτων αξιολόγησης, ανάλυσης και φιλτραρίσματος της πληροφορίας προκειμένου να είμαστε σε θέση να ασκήσουμε το δικαίωμα στην πληροφόρηση και την ελεύθερη έκφραση. Στο σημείο αυτό εισέρχεται η ανάγκη για πολίτες με παιδεία στα μέσα, ή άλλως οπτικοακουστική παιδεία, με δεξιότητες πρόσβασης, δημιουργικής χρήσης και κριτικής ανάλυσης του περιεχομένου των μέσων. Αυτή την ανάγκη επιδιώκει να καλύψει ο νέος Οδηγός Σπουδών των Εκπαιδευτικών για την Παιδεία στα Μέσα και την Πληροφορία από την UNESCO Paris, προωθώντας το κίνημα της εκπαίδευσης των πολιτών και ενσωματώνοντας του δασκάλους ως πρωταρχικούς φορείς του νέου αυτού, οπτικοακουστικού αλφαβητισμού. Ο Οδηγός Σπουδών των Εκπαιδευτικών για την Παιδεία στα Μέσα και την Πληροφορία, μεταφρασμένος ήδη σε 7 γλώσσες, είναι πλέον διαθέσιμος και στην Ελληνική γλώσσα, δωρεάν προσβάσιμος στο πλαίσιο των Ανοικτών Εκπαιδευτικών Πηγών της UNESCO, από τη σχετική ιστοσελίδα της UNESCO Paris, Information and Communication Sector (http://www.unesco.org/new/en/communication-and-information/resources/publications-and-communication-materials/publications/full-list/media-and-information-literacy-curriculum-for-teachers/ ). O Οδηγός είναι πρωτοποριακός για δύο λόγους: Καταρχάς, είναι προσανατολισμένος στις τρέχουσες τάσεις γύρω από την ψηφιακή σύγκλιση (ραδιόφωνο, τηλεόραση, κινηματογράφος, διαδίκτυο, Τύπος, βιβλία, αρχεία, βιβλιοθήκες) – παρουσιάζοντας για πρώτη φορά, την παιδεία στα μέσα και την πληροφορία με έναν ολιστικό τρόπο. Κατά δεύτερον, είναι ειδικά σχεδιασμένος έχοντας τους εκπαιδευτικούς κατά νου και τη δια βίου μάθηση, εγκαινιάζοντας έτσι μια καταλυτική διαδικασία ως πολύτιμο γνωστικό εφόδιο στο πλαίσιο της επιμόρφωσης.
