Ultrasonic HAB Remediation Attempt for Central Park Pond
Our Mission: To protect and improve the health and environment of all Kansans.
Central Park Pond
Our Mission: To protect and improve the health and environment of all Kansans.
• Small (~2 ac.) shallow (~6 ft.) urban waterbody
• Central Park Pond = TN 2,330 μg/L; TP 240 μg/L• BPJ Least Impacted = TN 860 μg/L; TP 33 μg/L
• Extremely hypereutrophic
• Extensively used by the community

Conclusions
Our Mission: To protect and improve the health and environment of all Kansans.
• Central Park Pond as a pilot test system• Small, shallow, electricity, HAB advisories• Indications were that this would work
• Unit appeared to function at some level• Deteriorating cells• Occasional low counts (natural?)
• Did not maintain acceptable conditions• Microcystis species change• Remained in Warning for majority of summer
• Other problems• Persistent DO sags• Nitrogen and Carbon release
• Would not recommend to a friend
