Part number Designation

General Technical Data

High Energy Varistor Discs IHV Series are Class

I heavy duty metal oxide varistors, designed

for high impulse current capability. IHV Series

offer an excellent surge protection according to

IEC 61643-11 Class I / (EN 61643-11, Type 1) for

use in the surge protective devices (SPDs). The

Iimp(10/350 μs) current level of IHV meets the

lighting protection level of IEC 60305-2. The ultra

high energy capability and glass passivation are

advantages over other existing MOVs.

• Wide operating voltage range VRMS : 130 V to 690 V

• Different model sizes available depending on current - Rectangular : 35 x 46 mm (40R) for Iimp = 12.5 kA - Square : 41 x 41 mm (41S) for Iimp = 12.5 kA - Circle : 66C for Iimp = 25 kA, 91C for Iimp = 50 kA

• Ultra high–energy absorption capability at 10/350 μs

• Low limiting voltages at Imax/2.

• Available in various versions and custom designed terminals.

Operating Ambient Temperature Range : -55 to + 85˚CHi-Pot Encapsulation (COATING Isolation Voltage Capability) : 2000 V

Class I High Energy Thermal Fused Varistors

IHVT Series

Features

Part number Designation

IHVT, I-Spec high energy varistor with thermal fuse and event

indication cased, is a self-protected device designed to open

in the event of overheating due to an temporary over-voltage

such as single line ground fault. It consists of a 35x46 mm

single rectangular varistor encapsulated into the silicone

elastomer with high thermal conductivity to ensure thermal

stability due to 10/350 μs high energy current. IHVT provides

an integral thermal fuse as outlined in IEC 61643-11 and UL

1449. The IHVT equipped with a low-temperature fuse near

the body to operate immediately upon overheating.

Surge Protective Device with thermal fuse designed to open in the event of overheating due to an abnormal over-voltage with large fault current.

• Fast operation and cutoff function of MOV in case of failure

• Ultra high surge current capability, 10/350 μs impulse discharge current, Iimp = 12.5 kA, 8/20 μs peak single pulse current, Imax = 60 kA.

• Two-way indicators that indicate the state of disconnection from the circuit - The Insulated 3 Micro-switch(as a Normal Open or Normal Close) terminals can be

connected to a monitoring circuit. - The color indicator provides a visual indication

Class I High Energy Thermal Fused Varistors

IHVB Series

Features

Part number Designation

IHVB, I-Spec high energy varistor with thermal fuse and

plastic housing block, is block type cased device designed

to open in the event of overheating due to an temporary

over-voltage such as single line ground fault. It consists of a
