The LeMoyne CAP started 27 years ago and is the most engaged CAP I have been involved with on the Gulf Coast. Much trust is being built between manufacturing and community residents through open dialogue and sharing of information. I was proud to share information about PEP with these fine folks, informing them of PEP's mission to apply best environmental practices to business and community issues. This issue of PEP News is full of opportunities for fun in support of a great cause, including the upcoming PEP Member Breakfast, Annual Membership Meeting and PEP Environmental Awards ( note - sponsorship opportunities are still available), PEP 19th Annual Golf Tournament, Thompson Engineering Funky Monkey 5K & Fun Run, Shred Days at the Mobile Recycling Center, and MORE! Don't forget! The PEP Science and Technology Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of South Alabama application deadline is March 21st. Best Regards, Jennifer Denson Executive Director MEMBER NEWS $1,000 Scholarships to 3 Students The members of the PEP Board of Directors are excited to announce the Partners for Environmental Progress Scholarship Fund for employees of PEP member companies and their dependents at the Community Foundation of South Alabama. Each year, PEP will award up to three $1000 individual scholarships to students who meet the Scholarship Criteria and are enrolled in a two or four year college or university pursuing a degree or advanced degree in fields related to engineering and environmental science. PEP believes that successful business and community quality of life are dependent on innovation and an understanding and respect for our coastal environments and natural resources. To that end, PEP seeks to invest in and support educational opportunities in the engineering and environmental sciences to expose students to critical issues involving the Gulf Coast, encourage innovation in the work place, and promote further improvements of best practices that have a positive impact on our environment and resources. Creekfest 2019 Saturday, May 11 Once upon a time, a beautiful creek ran through Mobile. Unfortunately, that creek was neglected during urbanization and the important waterway became an eyesore. Fortunately, the tide has turned, and the revitilization of the Three Mile Creek watershed has become a priority. PEP is a proud supporter of Creekfest, a family-friendly event that supports these revitilazation efforts. Live music, food and kayak rides will be part of the half-day event as the natural beauty of one of Three Mile Creek is showcased. Click here for more details. Mobile Recycling Center Events SHRED DAYS Every second Wednesday from 2:00pm - 5:00pm at the Mobile Recycling Center (7450 Hitt Road, Mobile, AL 36695) Watch as your files get shredded by the Mobile Recycling Center staff. $5 donation per box - four box limit.
