Happy New Year to you all! We hope that
2012 will be a healthy and prosperous one.
It will be another busy year again for our
Main Committee, Ladies Auxiliary and all
sub-committee’s who are busily working
out a calendar of events for 2012. We trust
you and your family, friends, Greek or
non-Greeks can attend some of events/
functions throughout the year. Remember
you do not need to be on a committee to
assist, and all help is gratefully appreci-
ated. As our community grows, the work-
load increases to provide these services for
you.
Our annual “Phota” function /Blessing of
the Waters was held on the 8th of January
2012. It was great to see a wonderful turn-
out at Church and afterwards at the Evan-
dale lake.
Congratulations
to our local girl
Crystal Paris
who retrieved
the cross for the
under 14's kids
group dive, and
Minelaos Glaros
who retrieved
the cross for the
adults dive".
Shortly after, approximately 250 people
attended our Greek Centre for a sumptu-
ous lunch which
was prepared by
the Ladies Auxil-
iary, who are to be
congratulated for
their hard efforts.
A combined effort
by the Main Com-
mittee, the Ladies
Auxiliary, and
many volunteers
prior to the day, on the day, and cleaning
up afterwards to make this function run
successfully.
I wish to acknowledge the hard work put
in by a group of volunteers, John Alexiou,
Perry Arithimos, Reg Allen who com-
menced work at 5.30 a.m. to cook the
lambs on the spit. Also I wish to thank
David Sen and Ken Learmonth
(community plumber) who assisted with
lambs on the spit and then later served
behind the bar. Special mention to Spiro
Levanes for his culinary skills, prepara-
tion and presentation of food. Many
thanks to Andrew Koulouris for assisting
the Ladies Auxiliary on the day and
Robert Keogh for technical assistance at
Evandale. Prior to the Phota another
team of volunteers gave up their Satur-
day to prepare the lambs, and erecting
the banner behind the stage.
We thank our special guests who at-
tended the day, Mr John Kiosoglous
MBE, Ricardo Vianna (President of
MCCGC) and his wife Ana, Norm Steere
(Executive Manager of MCCGC) and
Theo & Dunja Vairaktaris (Usher & Son)
and his family. Theo’s company has re-
cently done a substantial amount of
maintenance and painting work to our
Church.
On a sad note we extend our deepest
sympathy to Joanne Gould (Respite Co-
ordinator in our community) on the sud-
den passing of her mother-in-law over the
Christmas period. May her memory be
eternal.

SPIRITUAL CORNER
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Hello everyone and Happy New Year. Welcome to
Sunday School for 2012.
We trust the children have enjoyed their break and
are refreshed and ready for another great year, as we
all are. 2012 looks like being another jam packed year
of spiritual learning, as well as a little bit of fun
thrown in for good measure.
As previously, we would like to encourage all the chil-
dren to assemble in the tow front right hand side
pews of the Church. This is in preparation for the
reading of the Creed and the Lord’s Prayer. Father
Romanos will then (usually) give the children a
“sermonette”, followed by the partaking of Holy Com-
munion. The rostered Sunday School teachers of the
day will then escort the children to the auditorium
(next to the Greek School).
We love to see all the children, especially new faces,
no matter how often (or not) they make it.
We wish you all a blessed and safe 2012 and look for-
ward to seeing you soon. Take care
The Sunday School Teachers of St. Anna
Saint Theophan instructs us as follows: Nothing special is required for this, just the in-tention of accepting it and exerting yourself,
and remembering that the Lord is in you and close by you, and looks in you and inside of you just as intently as if someone were looking right
at you. So that you do not do something, just remember that the Lord is close by and watch-ing. Work at making this a habit and you will
get used to it, and as soon as it is a habit, or is almost a habit, you will see the read gaming action that comes from it in the soul. Just do
not forget that remembrance of God is not like remembrance of other things, that it must be
combined with the fear of God and reverence of Him.
To make it easier to acquire the habit of remem-brance of God, there is a special method for fer-
vent Christians; that is, the unceasing repetition of a short prayer... most common is “Lord, have mercy!” “Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a
sinner!” If you have never heard this, then listen, and if you have never done it, then begin doing it from this moment on. Whether you are walking,
sitting, working, eating, going to bed, repeat over and over the words, “Lord, have mercy!” “Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner!” From
long practice of this, the words will fasten them-selves to the tongue so that they will repeat them-selves. This has a very settling effect on the soar-
ing and wandering of the thoughts. Again, do not forget to combine this prayer with reverence.
