Teacher Training Programme (TTP) Lead Role Profile

Ourvision:Throughcultivatingmindfulness,theMindfulnessNetwork(MN)hastheintentiontoreduce human suffering, promote well-being and create the conditions in whichpeople can flourish. Around this shared intention, we aim to bring together anetwork of highly-trained mindfulness-based supervisors, teachers and retreatleaderstooffer:

• empirically-supported mindfulness-based courses to all, regardless ofeconomic,social,religiousorpoliticalboundaries;and

• personal andprofessional development opportunities formindfulness-basedcourse teachers to support them to work within recognised Good PracticeStandards.

The (MN) brings together a team of experienced supervisors, trainers and guestretreat teachers with the intention of offering services that are supportive to themission of the university centres (Bangor, Exeter and Oxford), but which sitmoreeasily in a not-for-profit company. We aim to offer services at rates that areaffordable,withtheintentionofsupportingmindfulness-basedteachersandtrainingorganisations across the UK and beyond to engage in their workwith the highestlevels of integrity. We are particularly interested in supporting teachers who areworkingwithhardtoreachcommunities.

Wehaveanewandexcitingopportunitytohelpusdeliverourwork,whichisattheforefrontofdeliveringservicestothecommunityofmindfulness-basedpractitionersandteachers,notjustintheUKbutworldwide.TheTeacherTrainingPathway(TTP)has been successfully delivered through the Centre forMindfulness Research andPractice(CMRP)atBangorUniversitysincetheacademicyear2016-17andbuildsonthe CPPD programme, which was founded in 2002. Due to transitions at BangorUniversity, theTTPwill bedeliveredwithin adiscrete armof theMN fromAugust2018.A licenceagreementwithBangorUniversity, includinga strongcollaborationwiththeCMRPandtheMNisbeingfinalised.Althoughthetrainingwillbedeliveredwithinadiscreetarmof theMN, thispostholderwillbeworkingcloselywithcorestaffwithintheMN,namelytheBusinessDevelopmentManager,ExecutiveDirector,

andMarketing/CommunicationsCoordinatorandadministrativestaff.Therewillalsobe a part-time, dedicated TTP Co-ordinator/Administrator post to support thetrainingprogramme.

OurstaffarelocatedaroundtheUK,andthepostholder,aswithotherMNstaff,willbehome-based.WeprovideservicesmainlyintheUK,butalsooffercommissionedcourses internationallyandourparticipants includepeople fromoverseas.Mostofourworkishandledthroughonlinesystems,andweareworkinghardtoupliftourITsystems.

Theroleisofferedparttime,at1.5daysperweek(12hours).Hourscanbeworkedtosuitthepostholderandtheneedsoftheorganisation,e.g.,beingabletorespondefficientlyandtoattendregularmeetings.Hourswillbereviewedregularlyand,asthebusinessactivitygrows,thenthismayincreaseto20hoursperweek.

Rolespecification:ToleadthestrategyandvisionfortheTeacherTrainingProgrammeincollaborationwiththeMNBusinessDevelopmentManagerandExecutiveDirectorandtheacademicleadwithinCMRPwhooverseethelicenseagreementwiththeMN.• toensurethedevelopmentofaregularprogrammeofteachertrainingactivityas

definedbythelicenseagreement;• to provide leadership and coordination of the TTP training team and the TTP

mentorteaminrelationtodeliveryofthetrainingprogramme;• tobuildandmaintain therelationshipswithin the training teamso trainers feel

engagedwith each other, part of the vision of the TTP, and supported in theirworktogether;

• tomonitor feedback from trainers and traineesandadjustprogrammedeliveryaccordingly;

• to work closely with the Business Development Manager and the other MNCoordinators/administratorsaroundbusinessandadministrativeissuesrelatedtoTTPdelivery;

• toworktoensurehightakeuponscheduledcourses throughworkingwiththeMarketing and Communications Coordinatorwithin theMN, and to support aninclusiveapproachtopublicmessaging;

• to provide line management of the TTP coordinator/administrator, includinghis/herannualdevelopmentandreview;

• tomakedecisions regarding coursedelivery, effective timetabling, allocationofteachingdutiesand suitabilityof teachers to teachparticular courses, in liaisonwiththeExecutiveDirector;

• toprovidegovernanceof theTTP training team throughensuringadherence toCMRP/MN policies and procedures and ensuring that the spirit and ethos ofmindfulnessisintegratedintoworkingpractices;

• tocontinuetodevelopappropriatepoliciesandprocedurestoensureexcellenceinprogrammedevelopmentanddelivery;

• toestablishthetrainingneedsofthetrainingteamanddiscusshowtheseneedsmaybemetwiththeExecutiveDirectorandCMRPAcademicLead;

• to take the lead in the ongoing refinement and description of CMRP’s trainingprogrammephilosophy,intentionsandaims;

• to build in awareness of equality and diversity issues into programmedevelopmentanddelivery;

• totakealeadinrepresentingtheTTPoutsidetheMN;and• tobe the first contact for developingnew contracts for commissioned courses,

buildingsoundrelationshipsandplans for trainingdevelopments inconjunctionwithotherMNstaff.

General• Tojoinmonthlyteammeetings• Tosupportthefacilitationofanannualgatheringofthetrainingteam• OtherdutiesasappropriateTheroleprofilemaybesubjecttochangeasagreed.Remuneration:Theroleisnotstructuredanddoesnotnecessarilylenditselfwelltoastrictroutine.Itwill require some flexibility to respond toqueriesandplanning requirements, asandwhentheyarise.Remunerationwillinitiallybefor1.5days(12hours)perweek,subjecttoreview.£15,600perannumfor12hoursperweek(FTE£48,750).Therewillbeequivalentto5 weeks paid holiday leave pro rata. In addition, the role holder would annuallyreceive:

• a fully-funded place at the CMRP/MN annual gathering including standardclasstravelandaccommodation;and

• a fully-funded place at the UK Network of Mindfulness-based TrainingOrganisations'annualmeeting.
