Rat CD2Other Names: LFA-2, T11

CD2, also known as LFA-2, is a member of the immunoglobulin gene family with an approximate molecular weight of 45 kD It is expressed on thymocytes, peripheral T cells, dendritic epider-mal T cells, macrophages in the spleen, and NK cells CD2 can as-sociate with the T cell receptor and participate in T cell activation through adhesion and signal transduction CD2 binds to CD48, CD58, and CD59

Clone: OX-34 Isotype: Mouse IgG2a, κThe OX-34 antibody blocks CD48 binding to CD2, partially blocks T cell activation, and inhibits the mixed lymphocyte reaction in vitro The OX-34 antibody has also been used to deplete periph-eral T cells and prevent allograft rejection in vivo

CD161 molecules, also known as NKR-P1, are a family of about 30 kD type II transmembrane C-type lectin-like receptors and are expressed on the cell membrane as disulphide-linked homodi-mers Rat NKR-P1 receptors are primarily expressed on NK cells, a subset of T cells, dendritic cells, and activated monocytes Car-bohydrate antigens with Gal-Nac and GlcNac moieties are the ligands for NKR-P1 molecules CD161 receptors are thought to be involved in the regulation of NK and NKT cell function Three rat NKR-P1 genes have been described: NKR-P1A, NKR-P1B, NKR-P1B* (or NKR-P1D) 10/78, similar to 323 antibody, recognizes a com-mon epitope of NKR-P1A (CD161a) and NKR-P1B (CD161b) NKR-P1A does not contain ITIM structure and is an activating recep-tor, while NKR-P1B contains an ITIM and displays an inhibitory function

Rat FOXP3Other Names: Forkhead box protein P3, Scurfin, JM2, IPEX, Zinc finger protein JM2

FOXP3 is a 50–55 kD transcription factor also known as Forkhead box protein P3, Scurfin, JM2, or IPEX It is proposed that it is a master regulatory gene and more specific marker of T regula-tory cells than most cell surface markers (such as CD4 and CD25) Transduced expression of FOXP3 in CD4+/CD25– cells has been shown to induce GITR, CD103, and CTLA4 and impart a T regula-tory cell phenotype FOXP3 is mutated in X-linked autoimmunity-allergic dysregulation syndrome (XLAAD or IPEX) in humans and in “scurfy” mice Overexpression of FOXP3 has been shown to lead to a hypoactive immune state, suggesting that this transcriptional factor is a central regulator of T cell activity

Rat TCR α/βOther Names: α/β T Cell Receptor, α/β TCR

TCR α and β are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily and components of the CD3/TCR complex expressed on most periph-eral T cells, intestinal epithelial lymphocytes, and thymocytes The CD3/TCR complex plays a key role in antigen recognition, signal transduction, and T cell activation The α/β TCR recognizes pep-tide bound to MHC class I and II

Rat TCR γ/δOther Names: γ/δ T Cell Receptor, γ/δ TCR

γ/δ TCR expression is observed on a subset of cells in the thymus, intestinal epithelium, skin, liver, peripheral lymphoid tissues, and peritoneum The γ/δ TCR is involved in the antigen recognition of some bacterial and tumor-associated antigens presented by MHC class I

Dog CD34Other Name: Mucosialin

CD34 is thought to function as an adhesion molecule for early he-matopoietic progenitors mediating the attachment of stem cells to extracellular matrix or stromal mucosialin It is selectively ex-pressed on the majority of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, bone marrow stromal cells, capillary endothelial cells, and embry-onic fibroblasts CD34+ hematopoietic progenitors may be mo-bilized to the peripheral blood by treatment with recombinant canine granulocyte colony-stimulating factor and stem-cell fac-tor Furthermore, CD34 is expressed on some canine leukemias
