Experimental Details

• Laser: Lasertechnik Berlin MNL 100 N2 Laser (337nm) producing

90 μJ/pulse at 50 Hz

• Sample: Varying mixtures of Ru(bpy)32+ and Methyl Viologen

(MV2+) in acetonitrile under continuous argon purge

• Sample concentrations

– Sample 1:  40 micromolar (μM) Ru(bpy)32+ , 25 mM KPF6, 0 mM MV2+

– Sample 2:  40 micromolar (μM) Ru(bpy)32+ , 25 mM KPF6, 3 mM MV2+

– Sample 3:  40 micromolar (μM) Ru(bpy)32+ , 25 mM KPF6, 6 mM MV2+

– Sample 4:  40 micromolar (μM) Ru(bpy)32+ , 25 mM KPF6, 9 mM MV2+

Measurement Details• Initial excitation of Ru(bpy)3

2+

• e- transfer from Ru(bpy)32+ to MV2+

• Observe appearance of MV+ and disappearance of Ru(bpy)32+

• Kinetics of electron transfer process concentration dependent
