Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as:-

• Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). • Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). • Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). • Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.).

Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document.

1. Remove Negative Battery Cable

(a) Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. 1-1)

(1) Protect the fender before starting.

(2) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when removing the cable. Fig. 1-1

2. Remove Luggage Board

(a) Open the back door and fold the rear seatback forward.

(b) Disengage the 2 locks and remove the luggage board. (Fig. 2-1)

NOTE: Place removed parts on a protected surface.

3. Remove Luggage Box (Center)

(a) Remove the luggage box (center). (Fig. 3-1)

NOTE: Place removed parts on a protected surface.

4. Remove Luggage Box (R)

(a) Remove the 2 nuts and remove the luggage box (R). (Fig. 4-1)

5. Remove Luggage Box (L)

(a) Remove the jack handle and jack. (Fig. 5-1)

(b) Remove the 2 nuts and remove the luggage box (L). (Fig. 5-1)

NOTE: Place removed parts on a protected surface.

6. Remove Luggage Finish Plate

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and 4 clips and remove the luggage finish plate by pulling up on finish plate. (Fig. 6-1)

NOTE: Place removed parts on a protected surface.

7. Drill Deck Side Trim

(a) Remove the bolt and remove the tie down hook. (Fig. 7-1)

(b) Disengage the 2 clips and 3 claws from the deck side trim (L). (Fig. 7-1)

NOTE: Place removed parts on a protected surface.

NOTE: Do not remove the deck side trim from the vehicle.

NOTE: Do not remove the weatherstrip, to prevent the deck side trim from coming loose from the body.

(c) Partially pull open the deck side trim (L) away from vehicle sheet metal. (Fig. 7-2)

(d) Align the pattern paper (for φ40 hole) with the upper flange configuration of the deck side trim (L) and secure it in place using masking tape, as shown in the illustration. (Fig. 7-2)

(e) Align the pattern paper (for φ6 hole) with the upper flange configuration of the deck side trim (L) and secure it in place using masking tape, as shown in the illustration. (Fig. 7-2)

NOTE: Do not pull the deck side trim out more than necessary, to prevent it from being damaged.

(f) Scribe marks in the center of the 2 φ40 holes on the pattern paper. (Fig. 7-3)

(g) Scribe a mark in the center of the φ6 hole on the pattern paper. (Fig. 7-3)

(h) Remove the 2 pieces of pattern paper from the deck side trim. (Fig. 7-3)

(i) Fix the luggage room light harness onto the vehicle sheet metal with a piece of packing tape. Do not overlap the tape over the marked portions. (Fig. 7-4)

NOTE: The luggage room light harness is provided only on the left side of the vehicle.

Eye protection must be worn during drilling process.

(j) Install a drill stopper onto φ3 electric drill bit as shown in the illustration. (Fig. 7-5-1)

(k) Open the deck side trim (L) and drill a φ3 pilot hole in the 2 marked portions using the electric drill. (Fig. 7-5)

(l) Open the deck side trim (L) and drill φ40 holes in the 2 pilot holes using a hole saw. (Fig. 7-5)

(m) Remove any burrs and chips from the drilled portions.

NOTE: Do not pull the deck side trim out more than necessary to prevent it from being damaged.

NOTE: Operate the electric drill and hole saw with care so as not to damage the vehicle wire harness.

NOTE: Hold the electric drill and hole saw perpendicular to the drilling surface.

(n) Install a drill stopper (packing tape) onto the φ6 electric drill bit as shown in the illustration. (Fig. 7-6-1)

(o) Open the deck side trim (L) and drill a φ3 pilot hole in the marked portion, using the electric drill. (Fig. 7-6)

(p) Open the deck side trim (L) and drill a φ6 hole in the pilot hole, using the electric drill. (Fig. 7-6)

(q) Remove any burrs and chips from the drilled portions.

(r) Remove the piece of packing tape securing the luggage room light harness. (Fig. 7-6)

NOTE: The luggage room light harness is provided only on the left side of the vehicle.

NOTE: Do not open the deck side trim more than necessary to prevent it from being damaged. NOTE: Operate the electric drill with care so as not to damage the luggage room light harness. NOTE: Hold the electric drill perpendicular to the drilling surface. (s) Repeat Steps 7(a)-7(r) for RH side.

(t) Clean up the vehicle’s interior rear area.

8. Install Bracket

(a) Install the 2 grommets into the 2 holes shown in the illustration. (Fig. 8-1)

(b) Install the bracket (L) onto the deck side trim (L) with the bolt and nut. (Fig. 8-2)

(c) Engage the 2 clips and 3 claws to reinstall the deck side trim (L). (Fig. 8-3)

(d) Reinstall the tie down hook with the bolt. (Fig. 8-3)

(e) Install the bracket (L) onto the deck side trim (L) with the 2 screws. (Fig. 8-4)

(f) Use the same procedure for the RH side bracket.

9. Install Hanger

(a) Fit the 2 hangers into the cutouts on the door panel. (Fig. 9-1)

10. Install Package Tray

(a) Fit the recesses in the package tray into the protrusions on the brackets (R and L). (Fig. 10-1)

(b) Pull the headrests up from the rear seats and fit the 4 hooks onto the headrest stays. (Fig. 10-2)

(c) Hook the pieces of string from the package tray to the 2 hangers. (Fig. 10-3)

11. Parts Reinstallation

(a) Reinstall all parts removed in Steps 2 – 6.

12. Reconnect Negative Battery Cable

(a) Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable. (Fig. 12-1)

(1) Tighten the nut to 4.1 N-m (36 in-lbf).

(2) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when replacing the cable.

CAUTION

1. Remove the parts in the reverse order of installation.

2. To avoid deformation of or damage to the package tray, secure it onto the bracket.

3. To prevent the package tray from falling, correctly secure it onto the bracket. Failure to do so may lead to injuries or serious accidents.

4. Ensure that the product is securely fitted onto the vehicle before loading.

5. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration when heavily loaded.

6. To avoid deformation of or damage to the package tray, do not place any objects on it. Furthermore, do not climb or hang front it.

7. To avoid damage to the package tray or vehicle parts, do not drive with the package tray open.

Open and close the back door.

Ensure that the screws and bolts are

securely tightened.

Ensure that the door opens and closes

smoothly.

Nut should be tightened to 4.1 N⋅m

(36 in-lbf)

Damage and dirt.

Tray lifts smoothly when rear door opens.

Tray seats properly when rear door closes.
