Folium Biosciences

At Folium Biosciences, we believe the best products start with the best ingredients. We know that not all hemp is created equal and not all CBD is the same. This is why we grow our own proprietary strain of hemp that is naturally high in cannabinoids. True industrial hemp, characterized by its tall stocks, is grown for its fibers which are the strongest plant fibers in nature. Industrial hemp is also grown for its seed which contain essential amino acids but no phytocannabinoids. Folium Biosciences’s hemp, although registered as industrial hemp, is not derived from genetic industrial hemp, rather from a unique medicinal hemp variety. Therefore, our hemp can provide the real health benefits of medicinal cannabis without the psychoactive effects of THC. Folium Biosciences is the largest vertically integrated grower, manufacturer and bulk distributor of medicinal hemp-derived phytocannabinoids in the USA. Our company was founded in 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and was one of the first companies in the United States to receive a legal license to grow, process and distribute industrial hemp. We are fully licensed and registered with the Colorado Department of Agriculture. All of our Phytocannabinoid-Rich (PCR) hemp is grown in full compliance under section 7606 of the 2014 Federal Farm Bill.

Folium's nanoemulsions are patent pending formulas that use optimized composition and a unique process to manufacture. The average size of our hemp oil droplet is 25 nanometers, compared with 100-5000 nanometers that is usually obtained by using the industry standard liposomal delivery method. Water Soluble Technology

We have several proprietary and patent pending water-soluble PCR options for our customers to choose from. Our water soluble technology is used to create a liquid or a powder that results in cannabidiol that is water soluble and highly bioavailable. Pure phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil that is added to water remains insoluble, and under physiological conditions, is not readily absorbed into the bloodstream. However, when our hemp oil is converted into a water-soluble liquid, it quickly goes into the solution, forming cannabinoid emulsion droplets with an average size of 25 nanometers, providing high surface area for enhanced bioavailiability. This results in a superior ingredient for our customers to formulate with.

Our standard water-soluble PCR powder is a phytocannabinoid-rich (PCR) powder with 20% CBD, other minor phytocannabinoids, and terpenes. This proprietary formulation has been designed for optimum bioavailability and maximum absorption. It is intended for dissolution immediately prior to consumption and for manufacturing of semisolid/solid products. Dr. Robert Silver is a gifted veterinarian, researcher, and author who has been practicing medicine for over three decades. He graduated from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. After working in Colorado Springs, Dr. Silver moved to Boulder in 1993 to establish Boulder’s Natural Animal, one of the first integrative veterinary medical practices in the US.

For the past 12 years, Dr. Silver has been investigating and recording the influence of cannabis on his patients; leading him to be known as the veterinary authority on treating companion animals with medicinal cannabis. Literally writing the book on how cannabis works with animals, he has documented its effects in a wide variety of conditions found in companion animals. These observations resulted in the writing of his book entitled: “Medical Marijuana and Your Pet”. Currently, Dr. Silver is involved in ongoing studies detailing the benefits phytocannabinoids have on animals through a multi-centered approach that involves veterinarians from around the US. Dr. Silver came to Folium Biosciences originally in 2015 where he found the high quality hemp extracts he had been looking for on behalf of an animal nutraceutical company, and was recruited to join Team Folium in February of 2016.

Hemp Pellets are pressed from Folium Biosciences’s Hemp Meal, which contains Zero-THC and a guaranteed minimum cannabinoid content of 0.3% in dry matter. They have been assayed to contain 20% plant protein, 30% insoluble fiber and 50% complex carbohydrates. The hemp meal used to make the pellets has been sterilized, sieved, and blended for safety, efficacy, and consistency. A food-grade FDA approved mold inhibitor has been added to the pellets for additional shelf life. These pellets can be easily administered to a variety of species, including horses, donkeys, mules, goats, sheep, swine, poultry and pet caged birds, rabbits, and pocket pets. The minimum guaranteed amount, 0.3% phytocannabinoids, provides 9-10 mg of phytocannabinoids per teaspoon and 25-30 mg of phytocannabinoids per tablespoon.
