Course code: EEE 201Course name: Electrical circuit ΙΙ
Lab reportExperiment no: 03
Experiment name: Verification of KVL and KCL in an AC circuit.
Student name: B. M. ADNANId: 2011-1-80-020
Section: 01Group no: 01
Group Ids: 2011-1-80-012 2011-1-80-013 2011-1-80-059
Date of performance: 21-06-11Date of submission: 28-06-11
OBJECTIVE: The main view of the experiment is to be able to study a series and parallel AC circuit using an AC source as well as verify KVL and KCL.

EXPERIMENTAL DATAFOR VERIFYING KVL
R L C V ω f100Ω 20mH 1microF 10V 6283.2rad/s 1000Hz
Phase difference for Vr = 0Phase difference for Vc = -80.64Phase difference for VL = 83.52Phase difference for Vs = 5.76
EXPERIMENTAL DATAFOR VERIFYING KCL
R1 R2 R3 V C L f ω100Ω 100Ω 101Ω 10V 1microF 50mH 1000KHz 6283.2rad/s
Phase difference for Irc = 57.6Phase difference for IrL = 57.6 Phase difference for Ir = 8.64Phase difference for Is = 8.94
ANSWERS TO THE LAB-REPORT QUESTIONS:1. We get from the experiment,Vr<0 = 5.4<0VVc<θ = 7<-80.64VVL<θ = 6.24<83.52Vand
Vs<θ = 7.6<5.76V
So, the Sum of Vr<0, Vc<θ and VL<θVr<0 + Vc<θ + VL<θ = 5.4<0 + 7<-80.64 + 6.24<83.52 = 7.38<-5.6V
COMPARING
Vs<θ Vr<0 + Vc<θ + VL<θ7.6<5.76V 7.38<-5.6V
Comment: 1. The values are almost same. So, we can ignore the little differences. 2. So, the KVL is verified.
2. We get from the experiment,Irc<θ = 0.0288<57.6AIrL<θ = -0.028<57.6AIr <θ = 0.04<8.64A
And current across the voltage source, Is<θ = 0.049<8.94ASo, the sum of Irc<θ, IrL<θ and Ir <θ isIrc<θ + IrL<θ + Ir <θ = 0.028<57.6 – 0.028<57.6 + 0.0304<8.64
= 0.04<8.64A
COMPARING
Is<θ Irc<θ + IrL<θ + Ir <θ0.049<8.94A 0.04<8.64A
Comment: 1.The values are almost same. So, we can ignore the little differences. 2. So, the KCL is verified
DISSCISSION: From this experiment we learnt how to verify KVL and KCL on an AC circuit. We also revised the using of oscilloscope.
