AvCount2 is a laser based particle analyser used for determining the particle concentration in liquid fuels and oils. It can be used throughout distribution networks and in the laboratory, in fact anywhere that requires accurate determination of particle distribution in a liquid sample. Whether checking the quality of fuel, filter systems or in service lubricants, AvCount2 provides fast and precise results.

AvCount uses the light emitted by a laser to illuminate a cell through which the sample is passed. Particles present in the sample cast a shadow onto the sensor within the cell, and as the particle passes across the cell the voltage output of the sensor drops. The voltage drop of the cell is proportional to the particle size and AvCount2 calculates the size of the particle based on this principle.

Results are displayed in real time and are simultaneously printed out on the integral printer. The test methods embedded in AvCount2 cover a range of fuels, lubricating oils and hydraulic fluids and can be edited to create custom test profiles. Versatile connectivity and memory management allow results to be accessed, printed out or downloaded to a memory.

The patented Fame In Jet Instrument (FIJI) has been developed to offer the industry a rapid and easy check on Parts Per Million (ppm or mg/kg) levels of FAME in Aviation fuel using test method IP 583 and ASTM D7767.

FIJI uniquely utilises state of the art FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy) technology and a patented sample preparation system which allows FAME detection accuracy down to the 20mg/kg level.

FIJI can be used as a field or lab based screening tool to give a quick indication of possible FAME contamination that may then necessitate further investigations. The instrument can be used to prevent expensive testing and avoid costly delays of fuel release.

The FIJI instrument is robust, extremely simple to use and is fully automatic so no specialist operator training is involved. Tests require less than 50ml of sample and typically take under 20 minutes. Results are presented in mg/kg units together with an optional traffic light system for flagging FAME contamination levels of the fuel.

By comparison current analytical tests can take many hours, require complex equipment and demand high skill levels.

Using a unique sample preparation module the sample is pumped at a controlled flow rate though a proprietary disposable cartridge. The sample components are spectrally analysed by the FTIR and a result is displayed in mg/kg and a graphical spectrum is also shown.

The system is self-cleaning so no solvents are required. After each test the cartridge is simply and easily replaced and the instrument is immediately ready for the next sample.

The Seta Multifl ash Universal Base can be used with either an Abel or Tag module to conform precisely to reference test methods.

It comprises a water/air bath, sample cup and lid, temperature probes, fl ash detector, and a DIPS pod (Dipping, Ignition, Pilot, Stirrer) containing the ignitor dipping mechanism with co-axial gas/electric ignitor, and a stirrer (Abel). The Setafl ash Series 8 ‘ActiveCool’ is an automated closed cup fl ash point tester with a temperature range of 10 to 130°C (50 to 266°F) with no external cooling required. When connected to a suitable chilled water supply, the range is extended down to -20°C (-4°F).

There are two modes of operation; Flash / No Flash and Ramp. The ramp mode increases the sample temperature at a rate of 2°C/min and automatically dips the ignitor every 1°C up to 100°C (every 2°C above 100°C), until either a fl ash is detected or the end of test temperature is reached.

The Seta Auto PMCC is a fully automated Pensky-Martens Closed Cup Flash Point Tester which combines strict method conformance with the latest control technology and safety systems to provide the next generation of fl ash point instruments.

An intuitive graphic user interface and 8.4” VGA colour touch screen operation provide unparalleled ease of use with real time display of test progress. Test profi les, operator names, test methods and storage of over 2000 results are provided through the embedded operating system. Test results can be emailed, saved to a memory stick, output to LIMS or produced in hard copy with the printer option.

A robust lid lifting arm provides a single raising or lowering action for loading and removing the test cup. The lid and shutter is integral to the arm and fi tted with a fi re detection probe, fi re extinguishing manifold, ignitor, fl ash detector and sample temperature probe. Stirrer drive, shutter actuator and ignitor dipping mechanism are contained within the arm. Specially designed geometry ensures correct alignment of the lid and shutter to cup, every time.

Ignition source uses an extended life hot wire with gas option. Sample temperature probe is a class A PRT, and fl ash detection is by a thermocouple. Safety features include PRT checks, safety dip before starting, over-temperature cut out, gas shut off , and optional fi re extinguisher. The instrument uses a thermally activated integral CO

2 fi re extinguisher

(factory fi t option) which discharges over the test area, it is driven by a CO

2 cylinder contained within the

instrument and is replaceable by the user.

Rapid turnaround between tests is achieved using a high capacity cooling fan and optimised air fl ow.

Calibration features include sample PRT and barometric pressure sensor with password protected access.

The Seta D2 Hand Held Conductivity Meter (D2 JF-1A-HH model) meets the requirements of ASTM D2624. It provides an accurate and rapid conductivity measurement of distillate fuels; and is specifi cally designed for testing low conductivity fl uids such as such as aviation kerosene, ULSD, home heating fuel, Naphtha, and printing ink.

The Meter can measure fuel electrical conductivities between 0 and 2000 picosiemens/meter (pS/m), although it is optimised and normally used in the 0 to 500 pS/m range.

Conductivity Calibration & Verifi cation Tool (99714-0)The Calibration & Verifi cation tool fi ts easily onto the tip of the Handheld Conductivity Meter for quick and easy calibration or verifi cation of the instrument. It has one switch to easily alter the range from low value (200 pS/m) to high value (500 pS/m). This allows the user to verify or calibrate conductivity in the fi eld thus eliminating the costly requirement of returning the instrument to the factory.
