What can we do? What do we do as the world fights to figure everything out? What do we do to stop the disturbing changes in our culture? It is overwhelming to think about. As I encourage myself, I would also like to encourage you to not let life weigh you down. I’ve thought to myself, “I want to do something to stop this, but what can I do? The problems are so big and overwhelming! I know I can pray, but is that all I should do to help my neighbor? Is that all God wants me to do?” I do not know the answers to these questions exactly, but here are some things we can do that will put us on the right path: We represent Christ here on earth, so start by projecting that - all day long. Put a smile on your face, be friendly and good natured. Hold doors open for strangers, let people in the traffic flow, stop and take time to talk to someone who is lonely, tip generously, share, spread cheer, practice patience, express gratitude continuously, and enjoy every little thing around you. Pray more and love more. Make that love visible. Show kindness, understanding, and judge less. Do not express opin-ions on social media - everyone has one of equal value. Our standards and opinions should be created based on the God given grace and conscience within us. Stand up for God’s grace. Be a good representative for Christ. - Patty Gerber, Parish Director

SERVICE WITH A SMILE! – It is a fact, supported biblically and scientifical-ly, that the more you serve others, the happier you will be. Maybe this is your calling, right here, right now, to come serve for your church. To-gether we ARE THE CHURCH and in 2021 we would like to invite you to take on a meaningful role for our parish family. We have a few job op-portunities and continual volunteer opportunities available for you to exercise your gifts of time and talent.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: MEDIA SPECIALIST – Assists with website, social me-dia, and parish mailings. Flexible and varying hours on Wednesdays or Thursday, pay negotiated based on experience and expertise. Majority of work can be done from home.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: THRIFT STORE COORDINATOR – Would work with parish staff and volunteers to coordinate the startup and execution of a thrift store at St. Boniface. Great flexibility in hours. Some responsibilities would include coordinating a task list and timeline of what needs to be accomplished and set up, re-cruiting, and coordinating volunteers to staff sales when open.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY (SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITY FOR HS YOUTH): Rummage items and “closet” organizers. As we have shut down due to COVID-19, we have rummage sale items that we would like to have organized, labeled, and boxed to prepare for sales. We also have many closets and storage areas in all the parishes that could use a good cleaning. These tasks can be done at very flexible times and could be done alone or with family to ensure very good safety measures.

JOBS WE TYPICALLY HIRE OUT (offering first to PARISHIONERS): These would be paid or volunteered hours per discussion with parish director. Jobs include small construction projects (good projects for a retired contractor or exceptionally good handy-man); interior wall painting; shrub, bush, tree trimming; kneeler reupholstering; flower gardening; snow shoveling/plowing.

PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL THE PARISH OFFICE FOR MORE DETAILS ON ALL OF THE ABOVE!!

Is your life unfolding the way you thought it would? Life does not turn out the way we expect—

sometimes it exceeds our expectations, sometimes it disappoints. What if we told you the BEST IS YET TO COME?

It’s a New Year, start a new prayerful you! Join us for four simple sessions to develop your prayer life in a life-changing way, according to Matthew Kelly. Everyone is invited to come to learn more about creating a habit of prayer that helps and guides you every day, based on the book I Heard God Laugh. This is a very casual book club / prayer group where you don’t HAVE to read the book if you don’t want to or don’t have the time, and you don’t have to already be a prayer warrior to participate. All are welcome and encouraged to give it a try! Sessions will be offered in person, via online in a Go-To Meeting, or you can join just by audio through a phone call. You can participate interactively or you can just listen/watch, whatever you desire.

Sessions will run on Mondays, with both a morning and evening session from 10am-11am at St. Joseph in Barron, and from 6pm-7pm at St. Peter on Jan. 25th, Feb. 1st, Feb. 8th, and Feb. 15th. To join, please call the cluster parish office at 715-637-3255, and let us know what session time and in what format (in person, online, or by phone) that you would like to participate. Personal journals for this book club/prayer group will be sent out ahead of the first session to all participants. To ensure timely distribution of these, your reply is requested by Jan. 19th.

If you know someone who is homebound or maybe feeling lonely through this pandemic, please reach out with an invitation to this club to them! They can join us by computer or phone and will get to pray along with some of their church family through these sessions.

DEAR LADIES OF ST. JOSEPH: Please mark your calendars and join us for our Ladies Guild Meet-

ing at St. Joseph (in the base-ment) on Sunday, February 7th at

10:30am (after Mass.) We will practice safe Covid 19 guidelines

    for our meeting.

We are very blessed to have volunteers and paid personnel who help out with the lawn care and snow removal at all of our parishes, however most of these people have been doing this for years, and could use a little help or back-up. Please give the cluster office a call if you would be willing and able to help out on a casual basis or if you would be interested in a possible job as one of our grounds keepers! Do you have a green thumb or love to garden? Let us know! We always can use help with beautification of the grounds in the spring and summer. Thank you for your consideration!
