IHU Accounts and Credentials
You are given two types of accounts:
▪ Email Account: Used only for logging into the webmail or Mail Client installed in your personal computer and/or mobile device
Username looks like: [email protected]
▪ Institutional or Domain Account: Used for all other IHU services like: e-learn, vpnservice, Eduroam etc.
Username looks like: FirstName.LastName
Password SecurityThe first thing you should do with your new credentials is change the passwords.
Do NOT reveal or share your password.Do NOT send passwords with unencrypted e-mail.Do NOT use the same password for websites and services (yahoo, linkedin, gmail etc)Do NOT forget to logout when using shared computers (e.g. in our computer labs, or in an internet Cafe).Do NOT reply to specially crafted “social engineering” emails. Try to contact the department that allegedly send them first.
The IT Department– will NEVER ask you for your password.– does not store your clear text passwords and – can only reset passwords for you.

▪ Building A– 3 Computer Labs (78 workstations) open 24/7
and available to students if not occupied for classes/labs.
▪ Campus-wide WiFi access

▪ The operating system of lab PCs is Windows 10
▪ Installed software– Office 2010
– Compustat

– Solidworks
– ANSYS
Always use external storage media when working on lab computers as user files will be deleted when the
computer restarts
All computers will revert to their previously setup state potential

Video conferencing infrastructure
IHU Virtual Private Network (1/2)
▪ Allows you to work from your home computer as if you were at an IHU computer– Online resources such as databases and journals are available
from home– Software licensed for IHU can be installed and used on your
computer via IHU’s license servers
▪ When connected, your Internet traffic is redirected through the IHU wherever you “go” you are identified as the IHU
▪ Important for– Access to material for coursework– Access to services limited to computers within the university

▪ You can contact us concerning any technical difficulties you may have regarding the proper usage of software and hardware of IHU equipment in computer labs and classrooms.
▪ You can bring us your laptop or mobile device in order to assist you, setting up / troubleshooting IHU services (e.g. IHU VPN)
▪ You can come to us whenever you need assistance with hardware/ software equipment (‘walk-in’ policy).
