Ταῦτα εἶπεν

ἐν συναγωγῇ

διδάσκων

ἐν Καφαρναούμ.

These things he said

in the synagogue

[while] teaching

in Capernaum.

Question 2

ἦλθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς

εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν

κηρύσσων

τὸ εὐαγγέλιον

τοῦ θεοῦ.

Jesus came

into Galilee

preaching

the gospel

of God.

πολλοὶ ἐλεύσονται

ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου

λέγοντες ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι.

Many will come

in my name

saying, “I am [he].”

ἐπορεύετο γὰρ

τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ

χαίρων.

For he was going

his way

rejoicing.

Παῦλος δὲ καὶ Βαρναβᾶς

διέτριβον

ἐν Ἀντιοχείᾳ

διδάσκοντες καὶ

εὐαγγελιζόμενοι

μετὰ καὶ ἑτέρων πολλῶν

τὸν λόγον τοῦ κυρίου.

But Paul and Barnabas

stayed

in Antioch

teaching and

evangelizing/preaching

with many others also

the word of the Lord.

Question 6

Καὶ ἀναβαίνων

εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα

παρέλαβεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς

τοὺς δώδεκα.

And [while] going up

to Jerusalem,

Jesus took

the twelve.

καὶ ἦλθεν

κηρύσσων

εἰς τὰς συναγωγὰς αὐτῶν

εἰς ὅλην τὴν Γαλιλαίαν

καὶ τὰ δαιμόνια ἐκβάλλων.

Καὶ ἔρχεται

πρὸς αὐτὸν λεπρὸς,

παρακαλῶν αὐτόν.

And he went

preaching

in their synagogues

in all Galilee

and casting out the demons.

And he comes

a leper to him

exhorting him.

Ὡς δὲ ἦν

ἐν τοῖς Ἱεροσολύμοις

ἐν τῷ πάσχα

ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ,

πολλοὶ ἐπίστευσαν

εἰς τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ,

θεωροῦντες αὐτοῦ τὰ

σημεῖα ἃ ἐποίει.

And as he was

in Jerusalem

during the Passover,

during the feast,

many believed

in his name

seeing his signs

which he was doing.

Τότε προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ

ἡ μήτηρ

τῶν υἱῶν Ζεβεδαίου

μετὰ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτῆς

προσκυνοῦσα καὶ αἰτοῦσά

τι ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ.

Then she came to him

the mother

of the sons of Zebedee

with her sons,

bowing down and asking

something from him.

Question 10

δικαιοσύνη θεοῦ

πεφανέρωται

μαρτυρουμένη

ὑπὸ τοῦ νόμου

καὶ τῶν προφητῶν.

The righteousness of God

has been revealed,

being witnessed

by the law

and the prophets.

Question 11

εὐαγγελίζοντες

τὸν λαὸν

ἐν τῇ Ἱεροσόλυμα

οἱ μαθηταὶ

ἐδόξαζον τὸν Ἰησοῦν

διὰ πάντα τὰ σημεῖα καὶ

τὰς δυναμεῖς αὐτοῦ.

While evangelizing

the people

in Jerusalem,

the disciples

were glorifying Jesus

on account of all of his

signs and miracles.

Question 12

καθήμενος

σὺν τοῖς δυσὶν

ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ

οὗτος παρεκάλησεν

τὸν ἀνδρὰ

καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα

ἀλληλοῖς

ἐν τοῖς λόγοις

τῆς ἀγάπης.

While sitting

with the two

in the church,

he called

the husband

and the wife

to speak to each other

in words

of love.

Question 13

ᾔδει γὰρ ὁ θεὸς ὅτι

ἐν ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ

φάγητε ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ

διανοιχθήσονται ὑμῶν οἱ

ὀφθαλμοί

καὶ ἔσεσθε ὡς θεοὶ

γινώσκοντες

καλὸν καὶ πονηρόν.

For God knew that

in whatever day

you eat from it,

they will be opened

your eyes

and you will be as gods,

knowing

good and evil.

Question 14

καὶ εἶπεν  πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας·

γινώσκουσα γινώσκω ἐγὼ

ὅτι ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν

παραδίδωσιν ὑμῖν

τὴν γῆν ταύτην.

And she said to the men,

“Knowing I know

that your God

is handing over to you

this land.”

“knowing I know” is an idiom that

means something like “I know for

sure”

Question 15

ποιοῦντες γὰρ

τὸ θέλημα

τοῦ Χριστοῦ

εὑρήσομεν

ἀνάπαυσιν.

For while doing

the will

of Christ,

we will find

rest.

Question 16

καὶ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ

εἷς ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου·

διδάσκαλε,

ἤνεγκα τὸν υἱόν μου

πρὸς σέ,

ἔχοντα

πνεῦμα ἄλαλον.

And he answered him

one out of the crowd

“Teacher,

I brought my son

to you

having

a mute spirit.”

ὀφθαλμοὺς ἔχοντες

οὐ βλέπετε

καὶ ὦτα ἔχοντες

οὐκ ἀκούετε;

Having eyes,

do you not see

and having ears

do you not hear?

μὲν οὖν

παρακαλῶν

πολλὰ καὶ ἕτερα

εὐηγγελίζετο

τὸν λαόν.

Then indeed

encouraging

many and other

[things]

he was evangelizing

the people.

Question 19

αὐτὸς διώδευεν 

κατὰ πόλιν

καὶ κώμην

κηρύσσων καὶ

εὐαγγελιζόμενος τὴν

βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ,

καὶ οἱ δώδεκα

σὺν αὐτῷ.

He was going through

each city

and village,

preaching and proclaiming

the news about

the Kingdom of God,

and the twelve [were]

with him.

Question 20

Εἰσελθὼν δὲ

εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν

ἐπαρρησιάζετο

ἐπὶ μῆνας τρεῖς

διαλεγόμενος καὶ πείθων

[τὰ] περὶ τῆς βασιλείας

τοῦ θεοῦ.

Now having entered

into the synagogue,

he was speaking boldly

for three months,

arguing and persuading

about the Kingdom of

God.
