1. Formula Student Competition

Formula Student Competition

Established in 1979, Formula is a student design competition organized by SAE

International (Society of Automotive Engineers).

The Formula SAE competition requires student to design, fabricate, and compete

with a single seat open wheel racecar.

The Aim of Formula Student

The competition aims to inspire young university engineering students from across the

globe to design and build a single-seat racing car in order to compete in static and

dynamic events and test the performance of the vehicle.

Why Get Involved

Students reveal their technical, engineering design, and manufacturing skills. They get

experience in team working, time management, project management, budgeting and

presentation. Formula Student graduates also find that the professionalism they gain as

practicing engineers means they are well equipped for their future engineering careers.

2. Frederick Academic Staff - Team Advisors

We are the first Formula Student Team in Cyprus. Our aim is to design, construct and

present a prototype car to compete with other universities at international level.

Our next aim, is to establish a Formula Student Team in our University and give the

opportunity to students to work with racing cars, search and find new engineering

solutions thus enhancing and upgrading the performance of the car.

The team works as a real design and manufacturing company within the University

and is currently made up of postgraduates, undergraduates, faculty advisors

(lecturers, lab technicians) and even recent graduates.
