A demister is a high efficiency separation device often

fitted to vapor-liquid separator vessels to enhance the

removal of liquid droplets entrained in a vapor stream.

Demister pad is also known as wire mesh demister or

mist eliminator. It mainly used for eliminate streams with

diameter of more than 3μm to 5μm. It has the features of

simple structure, light, less pressure drop, big surface,

high demisting efficiency, easy installation, operation,

maintenance and long service life.

Principle of Operation

1. Dirty gas enters in Vessel through Inlet nozzle

2. Gas pass through demister pad (SS Mesh)

3. Heavy particles fall down & collected in drain area

4. Dry Clean flows out through vessel outlet nozzle

Knock out Drum / Scrubber

Principle of Operation

Knock out Drums or Scrubbers are used to slow down gases and allow solids & liquids to "fall out" of the gas stream. Knock out drums can be configured in either a horizontal or vertical arrangement.

Multi-Cyclone Scrubbers are used to remove liquid and solid particles in gas. Autometers Energitec uses multiple, small-diameter cyclones arranged in parallel to achieve separation of small and large size particles. Depending upon the application, No. of cyclones may contain approx. 150-200. Size and diameter of cyclones will depend upon the gas flow rate.

Impurities being heaver, fall down & collected in drain area.

1. Dirty gas enters the Cyclone Tubes.

2. The tube housing forces the gas into a cyclonic flow pattern, which in turn throw solid liquid particles against wall of cyclone tubes.

3. Solid and liquid particles drain down the cyclone tube walls and collect at bottom.

4. Clean gas flows down and then rises out through the tubes.

Autometers Energitec's Vertical Gas Scrubbers are designed to handle both high and low liquid-to-gas ratios. They are especially recommended for applications where heavy liquid entrainment causes a slugging problem.

1. Gas and liquid entering vessel are diverted by inlet baffle to remove slugs and bulk liquids.

2. Gas and remaining mist enter vane separator

3. Removed liquid collects at vane bottom.

4. Submerged down-comer pipe drains liquids to bottom of vessel.

5. Liquid-level controls monitor collected liquid amounts for proper liquid discharge out of the vessel.

Filter separators has two stage design construction for the removal of both solid particles and liquid droplets.

contaminated gas first passes through filter elements. Separation of liquid particle and solid particles occurs inside glass

fibre media. The gas flowing through the filter carried out to liquid stripper section. Vane mist extractor removes coalesced

liquid droplets which are drained into sump vessel.

1. Incoming flow with entrained solids and liquids pass outside-in through the filter media where solids are removed

and coalescing takes place. Bulk liquids are also removed in this first stage.

2. The gas then carries the coalesced liquids through the Standpipe / tube sheet.

3. Remaining liquids are directed to the high-efficiency Liquid Sumpvane mist extractor.

4. Liquids from the vane mist extractor are collected away from the gas stream.

Autometers Energitec provides a package consisting of both separator vessel and separation internals based on the

operating conditions and the separation requirements.

The filter vessels may be manufactured in accordance with the latest edition of the ASME or BS codes with stamp.

Stress relieving and all types of non-destructive testing (such as dyes penetrant, ultrasonic and X-ray) are performed

under inspection of Quality Control Service.

A great experience in welding all types of materials is available to comply with the customer's specifications.

Filter Separators are guaranteed to remove 100% of all liquid droplets 8 microns and larger and remove 99.5% of those 0.5 to 8

microns in size. The minimum guaranteed solid particle removal is 100% of 1 micron and larger and 99.5% for those 0.5 to 1

micron in size.

The pressure loss of the separator is subject of operating gas density and choice of internals. It can be adjusted to the

technical requirements.

Configuration

Standard Accessories

Filter Separators are available in two configuration i.e. Vertical or Horizontal and single or double vessel configurations. Vertical separators are being used where space is limited for installation and Horizontal separators are being used where high liquid storage is required.

Installation and Maintenance

AEL's Filter Separators are designed to work unattended for long time. Periodic inspections and reviews are required to check

differential pressure, liquid level, normal operation and draining. If quantity of solid particles is high, it may be necessary to

clean filter elements by opening the unit and washing internally with a water hose.

Dry Gas Filters are used to remove very small solid particles. Dry Gas Filters remove the solid particles from

Gas at any working conditions, by designing the suitable filter elements. Selection of suitable no. of elements &

elements with suitable filtration efficiency depends on various factors like filtration efficiency, pressure drop,

quantity of solid particles etc.

Dry gas filters are used where gas is dry and solid particles needs to be removed before gas entered to

regulator or meter.

Filter separators are designed to specifically to remove solid as well as liquid particles.

Installation: Vertical or Horizontal

Separation efficiencies: Depending upon the type selected,

separation efficiencies are typically 99.5% removal of all

solid and liquid particles greater than 5 microns size.

Connection and Pressure Rating: Upto 24” 600#

Choice of Closure: Quick Opening type or Bolted type.

Design: ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 or 2

Approval: ASME U stamp

The gas passes through the inlet and reaches to filter body where its speed is reduced. As a result

large solid particles are separated.

Impurities which are collected by this process accumulate at the bottom.

The gas than passes through the filtering element, penetrating from out towards in where it is deposited as

solid particles

The clean gas then continues to flow towards outlet.
