2005 Sulfuration O 0245 Direct, Organocatalytic α-Sulfenylation of Aldehydes and Ketones. — Ketones and aldehydes undergo direct α-sulfenylation in the presence of a novel pyrrolidine tri- fluoromethanesulfonamide catalyst. The cyclic ketones (I) give the corresponding products (III) in high yields, whereas reactions of acyclic ketones form complex mix- tures. The reaction is further applied to various aldehydes, giving mainly the mono-sulfenylated products.
