ThefirstRonaldMcDonaldHouseinColumbusopenedon18thStreetinMarch1982whenanoldapartmentbuildingwaspurchasedandrenovated.Thenewfacilitywasmetwithagreatdealofexcitementfromthelocalcommunity,andespeciallythenewpartnerNaonwideChildren'sHospital.Asthehospitalgrew,sodidtheneedtoprovideaplacetostaynearby.Soin1988,capacitywasincreasedtoatotalof28rooms,alongwithseveralotherspecialtyareasthathelpedtomaketheHouseahome,wherefamiliescouldcometogetherandhelponeanotherthroughthegoodmesandthebad.oneanotherthroughthegoodmesandthebad.

In2008,inconjuncontheNaonwideChildren'sHospitalexpansionproject,abeauful80roomRonaldMcDonaldHousewasopened,makingitoneofthe

largestRonaldMcDonaldHousesintheworld.Locatedonly200stepsawayfromNaonwideChildren'sHospital,theHouseisdesignedtomeettheneedsoffamiliesfromthroughoutOhio,theUnitedStates,andinfacttheworld.

In2014,construconwascompletedona57-roomexpansionprojectattheColumbusRonaldMcDonaldHouse.Thisnewcampusexpansionallowsustoprovideaguestroomfor137familieseverynight,equalingnearly15,000addionalnightsattheRonaldMcDonaldHouseeveryyear.TheexpansionfeaturestheSafeliteAutoGlassSerenityRooopGarden,abeaufulnewexpandedkitchen,increasedgreenspace,andfivefree-standinghomesforfamilieswithextendedstays.TheColumbusRonaldMcDonaldHouseisnowthelargestofitskindintheworld.largestofitskindintheworld.

Eachyear,nearly3,000familiesstayattheColumbusRonaldMcDonaldHouse,spendingover20,000nightsatourhome-away-from-home.
