It gives me great pleasure as Ambassador of Greece in China to welcome Greek designers and creatives under the umbrella of DESIGNLOBBY.CN & ASIA to Beijing for the Beijing Design Week.

Greek design has a long history and a glorious past, as manifested in Ancient Greek architecture and ceramic art, but also a bright present and a promising future thanks to our inherent talent and creativity.

Greek designers have an impressive track record of international awards such as Red Dot European Design Awards, THE DIELINE Awards, THE D&AD Awards etc, for their inspiring work in the fields of Branding & Communication, Motion Design, Illustrations, Architectural Design, Food Packaging, Photography, Interior Design, Υachting & Shipping Design, etc.

Beijing Design Week, as the most important gathering of design artists in China, can serve as a platform for Greek designers, through DESIGNLOBBY.CN which operates as a design agency and a creative cluster, to make their work known in China and establish cooperative links with Chinese design companies and professionals. The Embassy of Greece warmly embraced this initiative and put under its aegis the whole project.

Some of the best European Designers and internationally acclaimed agencies, will show their work with DESIGNLOBBY.CN based in Berlin,Germany, during the Beijing Design Week 2012.

To name a few, those agencies have won some of the most prestigious Awards in the world such as RED DOT DESIGN AWARDS, DIELINE PACKAGING DESIGN AWARDS, EUROPEAN DESIGN AWARDS, IF AWARDS, NEW YORK FESTIVALS, FAB AWARDS, CHINAS MOST SUCCESSFUL DESIGN AWARDS, VIMEO & STASH BEST OF and many more.

Among the participants are the creators of the Athens Olympic Games 2004 logo and internationally acclaimed office of Red Design Consultants, the winners of Red Dot Design Award for 2011 as Agency of the year called Beetroot, this year’s award winners with Red dot and European Design Awards Designers United who are also responsible for the brand identity of the Formula 1 of sailing boats race called VOLVO OCEAN RACE as well as for the two of the organizations of EUROPEAN FINAL FOUR BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT, Red dot and European Design Award winners BUSYBUILDING, the creators of GOOGLE ART PROJECT VIDEO & internationally acclaimed office of motion design of NOMINT who were this year’s European Design Award Gold winners, the architects of this year’s FAB Award for the Best Food and Beverage Space in Airports A&M Architects, famous architecture photographer Erieta Attali and others.

But what is Designlobby?

Designlobby is the new initiative of former CEO of CARTECO, Vassilios P. Bartzokas and serial entrepreneur within the architecture and design industry. DESIGNLOBBY.CN is a platform that helps designers connect with the right clients and promote their work in Asia. 在2012年北京设计周期间，一些欧洲最佳设计师及国际顶级著名设计机构将与DESIGNLOBBY.CN 一道共同呈现他们的作品。DESIGNLOBBY.CN总部设于德国柏林，是集中代表创意及设计群体的一家代理机构。简单枚举一些，这些设计机构荣获了一些最具国际盛名的荣誉奖项，如红点设计大奖、DIELINE 包装设计大奖、欧洲设计大奖、IF大奖、纽约广告大奖、FAB大奖、中国最佳设计大奖及VIMEO & STASH BEST OF大奖，等等。

这些参与人员来自不同的行业领域，如品牌推广与传播、动画设计、建筑及室内设计、产品及照明设计、艺术及摄影等。

那么Designlobby 是一个什么样的机构呢？

Bartzokas Vassilios is one of the most influential people in Greece in the Design and Architecture Industry. Vassilios is the former CEO of CARTECO Design Centre, a company awarded under his management as one of the 10 best companies in Europe for the Customer Focus Award at the European Business Awards, together with companies such as DELL, DEUTSCHE TELEKOM, AIR BERLIN and others. He is the Founder and Creative Director of the free 24/7 access, innovative materials library for architects and designers called THE ARCHIVE operating 24/7 located in Thessaloniki. Thanos Zakopoulos is a creator of varied forms and contexts. An artist, a designer and a photographer amongst other things, he likes to bring together different disciplines and situations creating projects which balance between contemporary art & design. He has presented and participated in many exhibitions around the world and has given lectures in various occasions in Europe and China. In 2008 he founded together with Katia Meneghini CTRLZAK Art & Design Studio based in Milan of which he is also the creative director. When he is not there his research trips take him to strange places sometimes as far as to infinity and beyond.

The Greek Graphic Designers’ Association (GGDA) was founded in 1983 and is the national association for professional graphic designers.

The GGDA provides an advisory and arbitrating role for its member designers. We inform our members of developments in the field of Graphic Design and coordinate the efforts of all graphic designers in order to facilitate the advancement of the graphic design profession in Greece.

We provide a forum for dialogue and exchange

of ideas and information on issues relating to communication design. We offer advice and support in matters pertaining to fees, ethical practise, copyright etc. to our members.

The principal vehicle of the association is the General Assembly, which decides on all matters pertaining to the advancement of the association’s goals, as well as every issue submitted to it. The GGDA is ruled by a nine-member Executive Board, which is elected every two years.

The Hellenic Institute of Architecture is a non profit organisation, created in 1995, which pursues the development of architecture in Greece by being active in all areas which may attract public attention and by advancing the cause of architectural creation in Greece.

Such activities are the systematic organisation of thematic, historical or monographic exhibitions regarding the work of Greek architects in Greece or abroad, as well as the

The completion of the Benaki Museum at Pireos Street (Award, Institute of Greek Architects 2006), and the publication of a theme issue of the annual review Architecture in Greece, both in 2004, has confirmed their prominent standing among Greek architects.

Their work, featured in many exhibitions nationally and internationally, extends the tradition of regional modernism with critical attention paid not only to site and program but to the expression of broader humanist values. They affirm the role of architecture in creating the stable framework of boundaries and spatial relationships that support and make intelligible everyday public and private life, in all its richness of rhythm, movement and patterns of co-awareness.

The visual form of their buildings varies considerably, but it is always a memorable expression of the underlying spatial qualities of architecture, with equal emphasis on formal order, material texture and the quality of light. Kourkoulas is Associate Professor of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens.

University of Washington in Seattle, USA, at the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia and and at the Design Build Program in Cuernavaca Mexico. Our work is inspired by modernist architecture following traces of swiss, dutch, austrian and spanish examples. We have been influenced by our extensive traveling and we are keen in mixing and matching the different elements that surround us.

After collaborating closely for over 20 years, the two architects created Zege architects, which comprises architects, interior designers, landscape architects, draftsmen and executive employees. From book, hand-printed posters, packaging, product and web, to corporate identity and visual communication design.

Every project is dealt with simplicity and we focus on building a close and long-term relationship with our clients. We give great deal on the details of each project, which help a lot to differentiate and personalize the final outcome. Since 2007, he experiments in a wide range of different graphic applications including murals (with his friend and collaborator Alexandros Vasmoulakis - www.vasmou.com), as well as branding, logo design, typography and, lately, silk screen printing (with Athens - based designer and printer Tind www.tind.gr).

For over ten years she photographed extensively excavation sites and archeological findings specializing in the documentation of ancient painting in under earth tombs with the use of UV and IR radiation. During this period, Attali worked in various museums in Greece, Turkey, Italy, France and UK. Her corps of archeological work includes thousands of photographs, produced for scientific documentation and archaeological publications.

In parallel with her past work as an archeology photographer, she photographed landscapes in different parts of the world. Her pictures have been published and exhibited internationally.Since 2003 she has been an Adjunct Professor of Architectural Photography at the Department of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia

University, NY and she has also worked as a visiting professor in several Universities such The Royal Danish Academy of Arts in Copenhagen, Mackenzie University in Sao Paulo, The Catholic University in Santiago de Chile, Architectural Association in London amongst others. Her work has been supported by prestigious institutions, such as Fulbright, Japan Foundation, Graham Foundation, Dreyer’s Foundation, Norwegian Embassy in Copenhagen, Danish Arts Council, culminating to numerous exhibitions and publications.

During the past 14 years, Attali has been preoccupied primarily with architectural photography, both as a profession and as a fine-art photographer using architecture. Her architectural work expands from Europe to Americas and Asia where she undertakes professional commissions to document newly-constructed buildings of notable architectural quality.

In 2005, Louisa switched from a 10-year career in the corporate world, to photography, her lifelong dream. She attended photography courses at the International Centre of Photography (ICP) in New York and since 2006 she works as a freelance photographer in Athens. Louisa has done substantial work in Greece and abroad with renowned clients in the Hospitality sector (Hilton, Cavo Tagoo, Anassa, Almyra, Kyrimai, Kipi Suites etc). She has been successfully shooting for Whitekey Villas for 5 consecutive years. From the very beginning of his professional path he became a close collaborator of big advertising companies, editorial houses and magazines.

At an early date his photographs began getting published in numerous Greek magazines, including several covers. On the international front his work also began appearing in various printouts abroad such as the Wallpaper, the Architectural Digest, the Andrew Martin-Interior Design Review, Taschen, J.J magazine and many others.

Vangelis’ photographs have also been figuring in the pages and covers of books of both Greek and Foreign publications. These books range from architectural guides to decoration as well as cook books. Vangelis’ main professional activity revolves around photo shoots of hotel spaces in Greece, on the mainland as well as on the islands. Some of his clients are, Hiltons Hotels, Aman Resort, Sofitel....

Nonetheless, Vangelis also extends his portfolio to photo shoots of Food and Travel.

In the same way that Vangelis’ travels to Cuba and Japan became his source of inspiration and reason for his first personal painting in photography exhibition titled “Virtual World” in November 2006, the familiar images of people in motion portrayed in photographs taken then led him to his first personal photograph exhibition entitled “Shadows” in May 2008.

Besides his two personal exhibitions, in July 2007 Vangelis also participated in an ensemble exhibition on the island of Paros, purely focused on painting this time. Also, his work on images of foods entitled “fork D-tales” was presented at the Sani Resort hotel in Chalkidiki, Greece at the Annual Gastronomy Festival of May 2008 and recently, in December 2008, he was chosen among several Greek photographers to participate in the exhibition “Spira” organized by Flocafe S.A Greece. And in 2010 his second personal photograph exhibition “Shadow life” was held at the Met Hotel in Thessaloniki.

In 1999 he began his professional activity, collaborating with Dada Cucine and Agape, assuming the role of consultant for the search of new materials and product development.

In 2002 he established his own studio: “Alessandro Zambelli Industrial Design”, and soon began to distinguish himself within the ambit of design, with

industrial companies in various commodity sectors.He participated in shows in Europe, in the United States and Japan and realized many commercial exhibits and spaces.

In 2011 he win the European award of design: European Consumers Choice, with Palace and in the 2012 NYIGF Award with School Joke Chair.

His creative personality has intersected innovation and reflection, revealing ties with his origins.He seeks the dialogue between the essence and the irony in every project.

Even though during my school years I was not much into studying, since my interests rather focused on music and other creative activities, I succeeded in graduating from a technical school with a Graphic Design orientation. Following the directions given by some of my teachers, I followed the Industrial Design courses of Technological Institute of Kozani were I gained engineering background and fell in love with Design.

By the end of my studies I moved to Thessaloniki, Greece, in search for new professional and personal experiences. During the first six years of my stay I was employed by various companies; from furniture to urban equipment and from playground toys to metal constructions and dental equipment. During my employment I also worked on

personal projects with my main focus concentrating on furniture and gadget design. The first international recognition of my work came through the international Industrial bench design competition Athens Benchmark. By winning the first prize I not only had the opportunity to produce a small quantity of benches and have them installed in the center of Athens, but also to promote myself in the Greek press. Apart from that, I have also been included in articles by some international Industrial Design blogs and magazines, the most important of which was the annual Design and Design book.

Recently I moved from Thessaloniki to Utrecht, Netherlands, making, for one more time, a brand new start, aiming at new employment opportunities, studies, and interaction with interesting people

They both graduated in Industrial Design at Politecnico in Milan. In 2004 they began to work at some prestigious Italian firms where they were in charge of the design of large scale objects from interior design to house items and accessories. Since 2007 the activity of the studio has been from the market analysis to the concept definition and to product development in close relationship with different company. This experience has made them master the planning process that has become the main instrument they use to

design various types of objects in different fields. en&is faces the planning subjects and creates with the purchaser a relationship that fosters a union between the creative proposal and the company know-how. Compatibly with what is ecologically sustainable, en&is also finds a balance between its production capacity and the expenses.

Its planning approach is aimed at creating poetic objects that tell something to the observer and at giving a hint of magic with the designed objects that create a beautiful place in every room. Each object able to arouse a smile holds a touch of magic and has its reason for existence in a market that is overflowing of objects.

Upon his graduation from the RCA he worked for Minalle Tatersfield in London then in New York for Ayse Birsel and then Karim Rashid as Design Director.

Since September 2002 he runs his own design studio (chd industrial & product design) in Athens and in September

2007 also in Geneva where he currently leaves and works.He has tought at the Product and Systems Design Department of the University of Aegean as well as Akto, Athens.

He has received a series of awards among which a Red Dot and twice the Walker of Tomorrow award by Johnnie Walker.

The pair lives and works in Thessa-loniki, Greece. Klio studied painting at the Hanze Uni-versity, Groningen, NL print-making, at the Governors’ State University, Chicago IL, USA and holds an MFA in Digital art from the Univer-sity of Chicago, Chicago, IL USA. Christos Kalos studied Photography at ESP school of Photography, Thessaloniki, Greece. The pair has partici-pated in many solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.

In 2011 a new book, has just been released by IANOS pub-lications written by Profes-sor of Art History & Culture Theory at the Technical Uni-versity of Crete, Thanasis Moutsopoulos ‘Kalos&Klio’, A user’s guide for the digital world and global trash.

“Kalos&Klio are important figures in the world of digi-tal art and Net Art today, while through their post pop and post psychedelic explo-rations they have opened up new avenues in the area of design, interior architec-ture and illustration. Break-ing through the boundaries of the arts Kalos & Klio create ensembles which are delib-erately emptied of ideology and which, for precisely this reason, articulate a politi-cal discourse. They are in-tentionally artists of the ‘post’ and the ‘intermedi-ate’, since their works are functional, but retain their validity once their function is exhausted. “

A designer by nature, Lena’s eye seeks out the beauty, harmony and balance in her surroundings.

Her inspiration comes from a colorful background. Born in London to Greek and Rus-sian parents she has lived both in England and Greece. Nature, art, folklore and archaeology are an endless source of inspiration as well as her extensive trav-els all over the world tak-ing in various cultures, sights and local color and design.

Having started her career as an interior designer, Lena combined her love of art & design and beautiful interi-ors to design her own col-lection of handmade rugs.

Her rugs are either hand knotted by skilled arti-sans in Nepal or hand tufted to the highest standards in India making for a more economical alternative but maintaining the designer quality.

Apart from her signature collection, which can be adapted according to a cli-ent’s own requirements re-garding size, color, materi-als, texture and method of manufacture, Lena is also available to design custom rugs for a client desiring an exclusive piece or for themed projects in collabo-ration with other interior designers and architects.

Our outlook on design is a way of proceding that is inde-pendent from the field in which it will be applied to. One can draw on a sheet of paper using lines and col-ours; in the same way, one can draw on a sheet of steel using laser rays and folds, or on material using threads and weaving patterns. These are drawings using matter, lines that define volumes. Knowledge and choice of in-struments and materials is paramount from the start.

Fidelity to the original idea is necessary to restore the same emotion in the ac-tual object: this means at-tending to every detail, to

have a coherent and complete result. That is how thought turned into object maintains the purity and simplicity of the creative impulse. They are images that materialise so as to be shared.

We design for Billiani 1911, Boffi, Lanificio Leo, Made a Mano, Mipa, Vittorio Bo-nacina.

We also work in visual com-munication, till designing typefaces (for ex. Super-bastone and Csuni, which received a special commenda-tion for the 20th edition of the Compasso diOro ADI).Studiocharlie has been founded in 2002 by Gabri-ele Rigamonti, Carla Scorda, Vittorio Turla.

Sergios Fotiadis was born in Athens in 1972. He studied Industrial Design at Rhode

Island School of Design; he has worked for Rubbermaid in the USA, Maddison Limited, in England, J.N.Leoussis ad-vertising, and has taught at Vakalo school of art and de-sign. In 2001 he founded the creative studio “We design” (www.wedesign.gr), with his brother Philip, and Theano Petridou, while, since 2005, he teaches at the Depart-ment of Product and Systems Design Engineering at the University of the Aegean, in Syros, and is a found-ing member of the non profit Organization “Organization Earth” (www.ogi.gr).

He is involved in the design and production of objects, furniture and exclusive de-sign, interior and retail design, set design, for tel-evision and theater, graphic design, sculpture.Some of the companies that he has worked with are: Canon, Samsung, Diageo, Presspoint, Benaki Museum, The Acropolis Museum, Dipo, Bacardi Hellas, Etem, SATO, Alpha Channel, Porta Theat-er, Nike, Tom’s, Folli Fol-lie, Fnac, Jetoil and oth-ers.

We design 成立于2001年，涵盖了众多不同的设计领域：平面设计、插图、家具设计、物品设计、产品设计、室内设计、零售空间设计、住宅设计、展览馆设计、道具及舞台设计等。10年来 ，We design 参与了规模、生产量、材料及审美视野各异的各类项目。凭借我们丰富的经验及高超的专业技能我们能为每一项目提供最佳的设计方案。我们乐于与其他专业人士携手合作，一直以来，我们与印刷商、承包商、工程师、制造商以及工艺匠等以及业内同行设计师们进行了极有价值的合作，能根据每一项目的具体需求提供各项服务。We design 的合伙人都是一些建筑师、产品及平面设计师。Sergios Fotiadis，1972年生于雅典，曾在罗得岛州设计学院学习过工业设计。他在美国乐柏美及麦迪

森有限公司及英国的J.N.Leoussis广告公司工作过，且曾在Vakalo艺术与设计学院任教。2001年，与其兄弟及Theano Petridou成立了创意工作室”We design” www.wedesign.gr，自2005年他就在位于锡罗斯岛的爱琴大学产品和系统设计工程系任教，同时还是非盈利组织”Organization Earth” www.ogi.gr) 的创始人之一。他主要从事物品的设计与制作、家具及独家设计、室内设计、零售设计、为电视台及剧院进行舞台设计、平面设计以及雕塑制作等。他曾服务过的一些公司和机构有：佳能、三星、帝亚吉欧、Presspoint、贝纳基博物馆、卫城博物馆、Dipo、Bacardi Hellas、Etem、佐藤、Alpha Channel、Porta剧院、耐克、Tom’s、Folli Follie、Fnac、Jetoil 等等。

Founded in 2007 by Edoardo Perri, product designer, and Dario Riva, art director, it merges the professional experiences of both, cultivated in more than ten years of projects for major brands, corpora-tions and creative agencies.

Whomade offers a wide range of expertise in the field of design management, strat-egies for innovation and product design development, branding and integrated com-munication. With a fluid and dynamic approach to work, the studio is organized to develop 360° projects tai-lored to the needs of each customer, thank to its hard-ened team of designers and specialists in each differ-ent area of activities.

Whomade is able to work on the different scales and on the different layers of a business, maximizing the ex-

isting capabilities within the company and integrating them with highly profession-al expertise, efficiently set and directed to reach the goal.

Being in constant explo-ration of the contempo-rary world and its multiple transformations, the stu-dio has developped original creative methods to accom-pany every idea or enter-prise along guided paths for incubation, innovation and growth taking care, with a typically Italian logic, of all the project’s details: from the strategic plan to the applied research and the development of the concept, through the design, to the making of the prototype and from the total branding, to the multichannel communi-cation up to the product’s launch on the market.

Each and every enterprise starts and nurtures it-self from its uniqueness as well as each entrepreneur holds its own personal sto-ry: that’s why each project starts always with “who made it”, alongside those the en-terprise has started.
