IntroductionThe following Style Guide for the production of Licensed Products bearing the Special Olympics marks has been created from The Organising

Committee Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011, and is intended for official licensees who have been authorised to manufac-

ture, sell and promote the official Special Olympics ATHENS 2011 merchandise products.

This Style Guide has been created to provide its users with a creative springboard. It does not aim to provide licensees with the total range of prod-

ucts but rather act as a stimuli, providing a range of themes and designs suggesting applications across various product categories.

The themes in this guide have been chosen to represent the spirit of the Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011and the cultural

history of Greece.

We have provided six distinct themes that convey this message and communicate a sense of simplicity and design that is an essential element to

the ATHENS 2011 Licensing Program.

All officially licensed Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011 merchandise should aim to be of the highest standard and quality and

embody a set of values that will ensure a clear and consistent consumer message.

Emblem of theSpecial Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011 The emblem of the Special Olympics World Sum-mer Games ATHENS 2011 consists of three ele-ments:

The Symbol, a radiant sun. The sun is the source of life that underlines the excellence and power of the athlete that takes part in the Games. Excel-lence is depicted in the olive branch and power in the spiral form in the center of the sun. The colours reflect the Greek landscape and project emotions like passion for life in the warm red, op-timism in the orange, determination in the blue, freedom in the light blue and hope in the green.

• The International Symbol of the Special Olympics.• The Logotype: World Summer Games ATHENS 2011.

Always use the original artwork in order to en-sure top quality in reproduction. The use of the Games Emblem is limited to the Greek Territory.

Quality ControlTo ensure that the integrity of the Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011 is maintained at all times, licensees must submit to the Organising Committee for prior review and written approval, any proposed application of the Emblem of the Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011 and the contents of this Style Guide.

Please note that this guide is intended to establish initial themes and graphic directions for licensees and therefore approval is not based only on compliance with designs depicted in this Style Guide, the usage of the Special Olympics ATHENS 2011 emblem must be strictly adhered to and observed.

The Organising Committee for the Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011 quality control procedures require that licensees submit material for review on each of the following stages:

1. Rough sketches or layout concepts

2. Finished art work or final proofs

3. Pre-Production samples or strike-offs

4. Finished product (samples)
