AIDFF .

Athens International Digital Film Festival stands as an international meeting point for creators and audience, since its very first year. Simultaneously it achieved an alignment with the major developments regarding cinema, which is steadily moving towards the Digital Age. Featured as an innovative Festival it soon experienced an unexpected response from many filmmakers around the world. Digital Cinema has created an unprecedented technological revolution in the film industry, also affecting television and internet. The ergono-mics and availability of digital cameras along with the endless possi-bilities of digital editing expand the capabilities of modern filmmakers allowing them to achieve traditionally impossible things. Thus a vibrant community is rising all around the world of millions who are interested in cinema, which continues to gather heads and affect the other arts, which often borrow tools, technology and ideas inspired by cinema to create new art species. The Production of Athens International Digital Film Festival in times of crisis was a true challenge fostered by a powerful vision. The systematic work and creative mood was the base. The Festival gained many friends, not only in the art world, but wider. Gradually more and more people embraced it. Friends, sponsors, supporters, volunteers and partners of the festival they all created a supporting net. The Festival offered a new place for creators to show their work. It also created the conditions for a dialogue in relation to new media. International and Greek film production, artists and the ideal of art stand as a motivation for the Festivals people to continue.

Dear Friends and Colleagues! On behalf of Wildlife Vaasa International Nature Film FestivaI and in the framework of our festival co-operation with Athens International Digital Film Festival, we once more take a great pleasure to participate at the 4th edition of AIDFF, presenting together the 2nd Panorama of ecological and scientific films which is an award winning showcase of 10 factual documentary films selected to be screened during the festival days. Following the process of the festival development from the time of its establishment back in 2011, we are happy to notice this year that the festival has been warmly embraced under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture, the support of City of Athens as well as many major partner who have helped the festival offering the possibility to implement its program in two of the most historical cinemas in Athens, The Studio and the Alkyonis Therefore, before Christmas the audiences of the eternal city will have a great opportunity to experience a large scale film festival that reflects a very positive attitude and colorful image to the rest of the world with its diverse program. Finally, we wish to thank personally all the festival organizers, the festival Team and all the supporters for hosting our program and most of all our participating production companies and filmmakers who offered selflessly their works for the Panorama screenings. , Jean- Luc Godard. , . . . 4 , , . . . , . , . AIDFF Jean-Luc Godard once quoted that television produces oblivion and cinema memories; time resistant memories which constantly change our lives. Yet, something remains unchangeable for forever now. That is the human need to express itself, having Art as a medium. For another year, at the 4th Festival of Digital Cinema, new artists, achieved to shape cinematic images using realism and fantasy as tools. Besides, cinema is the common ground where fantasy and reality can co-exist. Their creative insights were shared with the spectators that watched those images unfold before their eyes. Cinemas production and aesthetics have been affected by the new era of digital media. This effect could be seen in the movies that were presented at this years successful festival. Its road to success was led by the important role of faith that one puts in his dreams. Bitten by the cinema bug at the age of eight, he promised his father that one day he would become a film director. Many years later, he is fulfilling his dream with five short films to his credit totaling up to 500 selections and 110 awards in film festivals. "Electric Indigo" is his first solo work and marks a change of direction towards a hand-held camera style and a colorful aesthetic.
