Exploring Volume

Volume is measured in cubic units, such as cubic meters (m3).

Formulas• Rectangular Prism:

V = LWH• Cylinder:

Ex. 1: Finding the Volume of a rectangular prism

• The box shown is 5 units long, 3 units wide, and 4 units high. What is the volume of the box?

V = LWH

V = (5)(3)(4)

V = 60 unit3

Ex. 2 Find the volume of the prism.

Find the height of a prism with a volume of 480m3, length of 12m

and width of 4m.

A driveway is 81 ft long, 6ft wide, and 0.5ft deep. How many cubic feet of concrete will be required to lay the driveway?
