Dr. K. BELIBASSAKIS ([email protected]): Naval Architect and Marine Engineer,

Dept. of NA & ME, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA 1986). PhD from

the same Department/University (NTUA 1992). Participated to a large number of

research projects funded by EU and Greek national resources (Greek Ministry of

Education, Greek Secretariat for Research and Technology, Public & Private

Sector etc). He has 25 journal publications, and more than 65 papers published in

the proceedings of International Conferences. His research interests include: Ship

and marine hydrodynamics, propeller design and performance, lifting systems,

wave propagation in marine environment (water waves in general bathymetry

and acoustic waves in layered waveguides), free-surface hydrodynamics,

probabilistic description of the marine environment. He teaches Ship Theory

(hydrostatics & stability, ship hydrodynamics at TEI-Athens), and Modelling of

Wave Phenomena in the Sea (at NTUA).

Dr. K. POLITIS ([email protected]): Naval Architect and Marine Engineer,

Dept. of NA & ME, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA 1982). PhD from

the same Department/ University (NTUA 1990). Participated to a large number of

research projects funded by EU and Greek national resources (Greek Ministry of

Education, Greek Secretariat for Research and Technology, Hellenic Register of

Shipping - HRS, Public & Private Sector etc). He has more than 6 journal

publications, and 10 papers published in the proceedings of International

Conferences. He also participated to compilation of Rules & Regulations of

Classification Society (HRS). His research interests include: Ship Design, ship and

marine hydrodynamics, free surface hydrodynamics. He teaches Ship Design and

Outfitting, Strength of Ships (at TEI-Athens).

J. MAVRAKIS ([email protected]): BSc in Naval Architecture & Marine

Engineering, University of Strathclyde & Glasgow (1974), and MSc in Ship

Production Technology from the same Department/University (1976). He is

author of 5 papers published in the proceedings of International Conferences. He

is Fellow Member of RINA. He teaches Shipyard Installations and Ship Production

Technology (at TEI-Athens).

Assistant Proffesors

Dr. G. THEOTOKATOS ([email protected]): He received his Diploma in

Mechanical Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (1994) and

his PhD in Control of Marine Engines from the School of Naval Architecture and

Marine Engineering NTUA (2001). From 1996 to 2002 he was researcher at the

Laboratory of Marine Engineering of NTUA. He has participated to various

research projects funded by EU and national resources. His research interests

include the development of tools for the simulation of the ship propulsion plant

and subsystems and its performance prediction, transient response and emissions

of marine engines, analysis of the engine and its turbocharging system operation

under steady and transient conditions, matching of the engine with its

turbocharging system, investigation of the engine and its turbocharger behaviour

under adverse operating conditions and the development and testing of

propulsion plant system control schemes. He has 3 publications in scientific journals, and 10 papers published in the Proceedings of International

Conferences. He teaches Ship Engines and Auxiliary Systems (at TEI-Athens).

Dr. Ch. STEFANAKOS ([email protected]): He received his Diploma in Naval

Architecture and Marine Engineering and his PhD in Engineering, in 1991 and

1999, respectively, both from the School of Naval Architecture and Marine

Engineering of National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). From 1999 to

2007 he was a postdoctoral researcher at the same department. He has worked

as senior research engineer to 20 research projects funded by EU and national

resources. He has 7 publications in scientific journals and 28 papers published in

the Proceedings of International Conferences. He is co-author of the book “Wind

and Wave Atlas of the Mediterranean Sea (MEDATLAS)”. His research interests

include Probabilistic Description of Marine Environment, Maritime Economics,

Computer Applications to Shipping and Shibuilding production. He teaches

Maritime Economics, Organization & Management of Shipyards and Shipping

Companies, Computer Applications (at TEI-Athens).

Dr. Th. GEROSTATHIS ([email protected]): He received his Diploma in Naval

Architecture and Marine Engineering and his PhD in Engineering, in 1997 and

2004, respectively, both from the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Eng. of

National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). From 2005 to 2007 he was a

postdoctoral researcher at the same department. He has worked as research

engineer to 15 research projects funded by EU and national resources. He has 22

publications in various journals, and international conferences. His research

interests include wave propagation in marine environment, free surface

hydrodynamics, wave-seabed-currents interactions, multiresolution analysis,

parallel and distributing scientific computing with application to marine

environment, development of numerical models using computer clusters and

grids, computer-aided geometric and ship design. He teaches Fluid Mechanics,

Computer Applications in Naval Architecture (at TEI-Athens), and Ship Dynamics,

Parallel and Distributed Computing (at NTUA).

G. HATZIKONSTANDIS ([email protected]): He received his Diploma in Naval

Architecture and Marine Engineering from University of Genova (1980) and his

MSc in Quality Control of Ships from Hellenic Open University (2007). He is

author of 5 papers published in the proceedings of International Conferences and

Workshops. He is member of SNAME. He teaches Design and Operation of Ship

Piping Sytems & Auxiliary Equipment, Ship-Hull Drawing, & Lofting (at TEI-

Athens).
